How are your teams, particularly your Leadership Team, constructed and structured to be effective? How does the district and state provide support for the Leadership Team's work?

This Leadership and Innovation Learning Exchange webinar focuses on energizing your Leadership Team. Travis Campbell, Assistant Superintendent and Chief Academic Officer for Vancouver Public Schools in Washington shares some great thoughts about Leadership Teams during the webinar.

This webinar will be particularly helpful for schools and districts that are working collaboratively with district representation on school Leadership Teams.

Additional Leadership and Innovation Series webinars can be found at this CIL link.
The school’s Leadership Team tackles schoolwide issues of curriculum, instruction, and professional development. Listen to a high school English teacher share her school’s approach applying reading strategies across the curriculum.  Then the Social Studies teacher on the Leadership Team describes how the strategy was applied in his classroom.  Click this link, select #8 in the left-hand column “What To Communicate” and listen to parts #8 and #9.

These clips are part of Indicators in Action, a video-based professional development tool supporting exceptional leadership, great instruction, and strong school communities. Explore the tool to find inspiration for your school improvement work.

The Center on Innovations in Learning (CIL) addresses two main areas - The Science of Innovation and Personalized Learning.  Within the Science of Innovation, CIL examines change leadership and the change process. In Personalized Learning, CIL addresses learning technologies, competency-based education, and personal competencies.  Read the September Letter from the CIL Director, Marilyn Murphy, to learn about all the work being done by the Center. We're sure much of it will address areas you are engaged in. Explore the entire CIL website for valuable resources.
Edshelf is a “socially-curated discovery engine of websites, mobile apps, desktop programs, and electronic products for teaching and learning.”  While CIL is not endorsing specific products, it is providing information organized by topic to facilitate your search.

This month CIL highlights two resources - Cell and Cell Structure and Formative.
Cell and Cell Structure is an inexpensive ($2.99) app for engaging middle and high school science students. The app provides "in-depth understanding about cells, cell structure, the cell life cycle, individual organelles and their functions, and much more" as well as interactive activities,  outstanding images, and videos.
Works with iPhone and iPad.
Formative, as its name implies, is a web-based app that allows teachers (and students!) to create formative assessments. This free app provides for a wide variety of assessments, including multiple choice and short answer questions.  However, it can accommodate teachers who create the most innovative types of formative assessments.  Students may draw responses to complex questions, which are then viewed by the teacher, who can provide immediate and individualized feedback. Existing pdf, Word, and Google doc assessments can be uploaded, and video, images, and graphics can be incorporated into questions as well as into student responses. This one is worth a look!
