Board in Action
This year's Annual Membership Meeting has been postponed to June 13, 2020.  While the meeting itself is virtual, the USLCA Board has chosen to postpone for those whose focus needs to be elsewhere during this difficult time.  We will continue to monitor the situation and evaluate the meeting logistics appropriately.

Joint Statement in Support of the WHO

The practice of IBCLCs is guided by the recommendations and work of the World Health Organization (WHO).  Although every IBCLC must also work within the confines of their own country's needs, there is also a shared responsibility to maintain global health and the global promotion of breastfeeding.
USLCA and International Lactation Consultant Association have released a joint statement of support.

2020 Regional Workshops

COVID-19 Update: The USLCA staff and Board of Directors take the rapidly changing public health situation created by coronavirus disease (COVID-19) very seriously and want to do everything we can to protect our staff, speakers, and attendees. We have made the decision to evaluate each workshop 30 days prior to determine if postponement is necessary.

We encourage you to continue to register for a workshop in your area, and in the event of a postponement, you will be notified no later than 30 days before the scheduled date and receive a full refund. It is our intent to reschedule each workshop that is postponed and will provide additional details as they become available.

Chapters in Action

Chapter Highlight

We love highlighting the activities of our amazing USLCA chapters!  This month, we’re excited to share information from the Massachusetts Lactation Consultant Association (MLCA).

Founded by a passionate and experienced group of IBCLCs in Massachusetts, MLCA became a chapter of USLCA in 2016 and incorporated as a 501c3 in 2018. Over the past four years, MLCA has been extremely busy in supporting the IBCLC through building professional recognition, advocating for the advancement of the profession and supporting the professional needs of members.

Click here to read about MLCA's work with insurance providers and what they're doing to help during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Chapter Benefit Highlight

Remote Viewing Options for Annual Chapter Webinar

One of USLCA’s most popular chapter benefits is the annual free chapter webinar. This webinar was originally intended to be shown live during a chapter meeting or event. However, with the recent social distancing measures in place, it is possible to have all chapter members view the annual free webinar individually, each on her/his own computer/device.

Alternatively, if the chapter has the technology in place, it is possible for members to view the webinar remotely via webinar broadcast. If your chapter plans on using either of these options, please contact Cheryl Rothwell for more information about the required steps.

Chapter Call

Our next USLCA Chapter Call will be held Thursday, May 21st at 8pm ET (7 CT, 6 MT, 5 PT).  Please ensure that a representative from your chapter plans to attend. If you have agenda items, please email the office by Monday, May 18th.

Quarterly Chapter Reports

The deadline for the USLCA Chapter Report for the January–March 2020 quarter has been extended to May 31st. If you haven't already done so, please have a chapter representative submit your quarterly report here.

Advertising with USLCA is a great way to extend the reach of your product or service. Take advantage of our low prices today!
