Dining Out Evening - The Crazy Cowgirls of Pemberley Ranch
Wings’ ladies and partners enjoyed a meal and show at Whangarei’s Octagon theatre for our ‘Dining Out’ evening on 23rd of April.
The play/musical by Jon Jory, was a light-hearted adaptation of Jane Austin’s classic, Pride and Prejudice, originally written over 200 years ago in 1813.
The cast gave a professional and lively performance with particular praise going to the leads and, of course, our own Michelle Briggs, a long-time member of WINGS :)
The story was moved from ‘olde England’ to Pemberly Ranch in America but the seasoned plot remained familiar: Mr. and Mrs. Bennett keen to marry off their brood of daughters who wanted to marry for love and not the desperately needed money.
With some drama, scandal and intrigue, feisty Lizzie got her man and there was a ‘happy-ever-after’ ending for all the family.

WINGS THEMED MEETING (AGM)
Our Annual General Meeting proved to be a fun-filled occasion attended by 38 members.
Superbly organized by Mina Crisp, all the important and legal requirements were covered
followed by thanks to the many members of last year’s committee without whom WINGS
could not function.
The hugely important contribution of our sponsors was gratefully acknowledged.
Dawn Spence, Norah Dodson and Robyn Wildeman were elected to the new committee.
Deirdre Nicholls stood down after several years as secretary to take up her new role as
Events Coordinator.
Lindsey Shaw and Paula Smith were awarded ‘Volunteers of the Year’ in recognition of their
outstanding contribution to the life of WINGS over the past years
The evening concluded with spot prizes, gifts, presentations and a delicious shared supper
provided by Mina.

SUPPORTING BREAST CANCER - WALK FOLLOWED BY BREAKFAST
On Friday 7th May, team WINGS ladies, prettily clad in pink, met bright and early at the Clock Museum in Whangarei's Town Basin. Our mission-to walk The Loop to raise awareness of breast cancer. It was a bright sparkling morning and the walk gave us an opportunity to catch up with each other and meet new friends.
We stopped for a breather by the iconic harbour bridge, Te Matau a Pohe, and unexpectedly Janina led us in a rather lovely spontaneous Tai Chi session with the backdrop of the beautiful Hatea River.
We ended up at Sabio's coffeeshop for breakfast where several other WINGS ladies were already enjoying their coffee. The Ladies were most generous and the Koha donations raised in excess of $90, which Sabio Cafe will pass on. Thank you to Sabio Cafe for welcoming us.

WINGS PAMPER DAY 2021
What a great event that was. All the hard work paid off and WINGS launched Pamper Day 2021 on Friday 15 May with a fantastic turn up of amazing women. More than 200 visitors supported our fundraiser and for that we are very grateful.
Everyone enjoyed their time. Some very lucky winners got fabulous prizes, and most ladies had relaxing and fun pampering treatments, and bought great goodies by local vendors and stall holders.
A very special thank you to our awesome volunteers and members who made it all happen. Thank you ladies!
Another huge thank you goes to our generous sponsors who donated so much to make this event a success.
Finally, a big thank you to our Mayor Sheryl Mai, who officially opened Pamper Day and joined us inside.
