Toast the Trailblazers with Special Guest: Secretary John Kerry

Our 20th Anniversary Gala on Wednesday, April 5, at the Peabody Essex Museum, Salem
It's Our 20th Anniversary! Secretary John Kerry played a key role in the federal legislation designating the Essex National Heritage Area. We are thrilled that he will join us in celebrating all of the incredible organizations and people that we’ve spent the last two decades working with to preserve and enhance the significant historic, cultural, and natural places that make Essex County like nowhere else. Get your Gala tickets online here.

Connections Through Confections!

Heritage Education Update
First grade students in Lynn captured what they connect to in their city through these drawings; including breathtaking views of Lynn Shore Drive and the iconic Fluff jar (which is celebrating their 100th Anniversary this year)! Learn more about their Park For Every Classroom project.

Help for the "History Cottage"

Partnership Grant Spotlight
Through its restoration of the “History Cottage,” the Asbury Grove Historical Society seeks to educate the public about daily life in a camp meeting community, circa 1900. Operating continuously since 1859, the Victorian-era cottage community in South Hamilton has a prominent role in the camp meeting movement. This past summer, society volunteers used Essex Heritage funding to install a new, period appropriate roof and restore the 1880 cottage’s elaborate gingerbread ornamentation.

Love a Little History With
Your Rum?

Friendship's Bounty Spiced Rum – A molasses rum named after Friendship (Salem's own tall ship replica of one of the first spice trading vessels built in the 1700s) is infused with spices that would have been found in the ship’s hold during her journeys around the globe! $1 of every bottle is donated to Essex Heritage. Found at the Deacon Giles Distillery and at a location near you: Find your spirit!
