Fall Preparations Underway

We are busy preparing the end of Summer Learning, working with contractors and vendors to update our spaces to support a safer building reopening, and planning collections and resources to support your job searching and home learning needs as we look forward to fall.

Thanks for your patience as we get ready for the day we can welcome you back inside, confident that we are providing the safest possible environment to learn and grow in these challenging times.

We ask families with children or grandchildren to consider taking our brief Home Learning survey to help us support your family's learning plans.  This is not associated with the school district.  The purpose of the survey is to help your librarians plan kits, collections and resources to help your children be engaged with learning throughout the school year, regardless of whether they are heading back to school, learning remotely, or embarking on homeschooling.
Please click HERE to take the survey.  We appreciate your input.

Be well.  Be safe.  Be kind.

Please feel free to contact me any time at
Kind regards, Julie M. Perrin, Library Director - a.k.a. Ms. Julie

New Outdoor Browsing Hours

We are loving the way Outdoor Browsing has become reminiscent of the community center feel of the library in healthier times.  In addition to an opportunity to add to your reading pile, friends and neighbors are reconnecting safely.  It's just so much fun!

We are finding, though, that everyone comes to the first available Outdoor Browsing event of each week, so rather than prepping two days per week, we will host one Outdoor Browsing event each week, with a rain date for the next day.

So, the new weekly time for the first three weeks of August are:
  • Wednesday, August 5 at 2-4 pm (Rain Date Thursday, August 6 at 2-4 pm)
  • Wednesday, August 12 at 2-4 pm (Rain Date Thursday, August 13 at 2-4 pm)
  • Wednesday, August 19 at 2-4 pm (Rain Date Thursday, August 20 at 2-4 pm)

We will take a break for the last week of August and hopefully have updated service news by that time, depending on our progress indoors and health conditions nationwide.

See you next Wednesday!

Mildred's Masks

We introduced our children's mask campaign Mildred's Masks in our last newsletter.  (Click HERE if you missed it.)
Youth-sized and teen sized mask donations are starting to arrive.  This adorable Spiderman mask is one of my favorites so far!
If you would like to donate masks to our Mildred's Masks drive, please put the masks in a sealed baggie in the book drop.  We will see that they are washed and quarantined in order to be distributed, ready to use, in September.  Thank you!

Coming Soon - Dial-A-Story!

Too many people online in your household slowing down your bandwidth?  Wish your kids could go to library storytime on demand?  Wouldn't it be great if your librarians were available 24/7 at a toll-free phone number to read stories, tell jokes, offer creative writing prompts, impress you with cool science facts and more?  And imagine this toll free phone number could have unlimited callers at the same time...and a long menu that changes monthly.
It sounds too good to be true -- but all great things are possible!
Watch for this new service to be launched in August!
We are at Service Level ORANGE.
Can you see the beautiful walls?  You may recall that some old, drab and dusty carpet lined the walls of the "lobby" area, but thanks to the talented work of Chris Luksha, the walls are now painted and bright to match the rest of the original building and show off the gorgeous stained glass. Ms. Julie is manning the phone of our temporary circulation station as we prepare for future lobby services.
