The Plan Moving Forward

Our new Board of Trustees, the library staff and I remain committed to our mission to be your center for lifelong learning, even while we must remain closed to in-person services for everyone's safety.
Along with expanded digital services, outlined below, we are upping our communication with our "offline" patrons to provide them with virtual opportunities and to continue to support their information needs remotely.
We continue to monitor the state recommendations, and both Andrea and I are members of the state Library Reopening Best Practices Task Force.  We are not considering options in a vacuum, but are in communication with other states and librarians around the world.  Reopening will likely be a multi-phased approach, and we will communicate more information as it becomes available.
Per our policy guidelines, the library building will remain closed until further notice.

Stay home. Be well. We hope to see you soon.

Please feel free to contact me any time at jperrin@townofjaffrey.com.
Kind regards, Julie M. Perrin, Library Director - a.k.a. Ms. Julie

Lunch with a Librarian - now LIVE on Zoom

Every Friday at Noon on Zoom

Want to share what you're reading, your latest project, your child's creative artwork? We're also happy to answer GENERAL reference or tech help questions. Just remember the room is public and you have to share the librarians' attention with everyone else. You can't eat in the library, but you can eat lunch with a librarian!

You must register to receive a password to access this event, so visit our Event Calendar to sign up.

Library-to-Go BINGO  (just in time for your extended remote learning)

Need a little more structure in your non-school hours each day?

Want to keep the family engaged, but you just need a break from being the activities director in your household?

The library has you covered with an all-new Library-to-Go! BINGO activity sheet that the whole family can enjoy.  You can do activities together or as individuals. Some projects are featured on our Library-to-Go menu or use other digital resources, but there is plenty of "off screen" time, too.  It is all-age friendly!

Every time you complete a BINGO (which you can do several times), send us a photo for your own READ poster, featuring you (or your pet).  This READ poster features Fran, the chick we raised in the library, who now lives with Ms. Julie.  Don't let the chickens have all the fun!   Get started today with Library-to-Go BINGO.

Your librarians are lonely designing projects. We want to see that you are enjoying them, so we hope you will participate and share your photos with us via our email.
This young patron sent us a picture of the puppet he made, following the Storybook and Craft instructions on Ms. Linda's Take & Make Crafts in Library-to-Go!

Your favorite programs are here!

In the first three weeks of closure to the public, our library team recreated our most popular programs and added new ones to bring your favorite library learning activities online.
What's new?  Genre Tasting with Ms. Robin, combining TumbleBook titles with recipes;  Ms. Julie C. (aka Yoga Julie) brings you your Yoga Alphabet Scavenger Hunts; Ms. Erin expands Artist Afternoons; Ms. Courtney sparks your scientific curiosity with new experiments, and Ms. Linda brings her famous Lab story and craft into your homes.
We post new projects throughout the week so check back often!
Joe and Andrea outdid themselves. Watch Bread and Butter and enjoy both Ms. Andrea's talent and Joe's creative video editing skills!

Victory Garden Seeds are Gone!

While the sorting of bulk seeds into over 800 packets was laborious, what satisfaction in knowing that all of our Seed Library-to-Go seeds for your Victory Gardens have been distributed!
Due to the volume of requests, we had to prioritize residents, so we apologize that we were not able to fill all non-resident requests.
We look forward to sharing our seeds with you again next year, in-person.
Planting instructions are available on our website.
Happy planting!
Thank you again to Seed Savers Exchange, UNH Cooperative Extension and our generous donors.

Spam, Scams, and other Unpleasantries

The Attorney General's office has warned of several scams related to COVID-19.  The Department of Justice provides detailed information here to keep you informed, so you can protect yourself.
Beware of odd emails and phishing attempts.  (Ms. Julie did NOT send you a file with "secure documents" attached! We were hacked, too.)
A recent attack on town email led to many emails being rejected when the last newsletter went out, so visit our Newsletter Archive if you think you may have missed earlier news.
In the case of the library email accounts, we have added extra security measures.

Still...No Book Drop, Please

Thank you!   Returns will be managed gradually as part of phased reopening, when it it is safe to do so.  Please keep your materials until that time.
All due dates have now been changed to May 18th and will be extended, if necessary.
Be well!
