It's this Saturday/Dydd Sadwrn 02.11.2019!

Just a quick reminder that "October's" gig is actually this coming Saturday, 2nd November!

Those of you who saw Willy Porter last year, when we decamped to the Golf Club due to a venue booking clash, will not have forgotten his astonishing performance. Engaging, lively, humorous and brutal - all of those things ... and he's back this Saturday! Usual venue, unusual date. As we have attempted to explain before, sometimes we just have to move our 3rd Friday nights to match up with the availability of touring artists, and this is one of those occasions.

Further details are below, but before we get there please remember, if you want to unsubscribe from this newsletter, change your subscription to receive a Welsh version etc, then please visit the "Newsletter" page on the website (www.penarthacoustic.club) for options. If that doesn't work, then come along to one of our gigs to complain, or just email us to let us know!

What happens to the raffle money?
For those of you who are relatively new to Penarth Acoustic Club, and for those of you who haven't been for a while, it's probably worth updating you on what happens to your raffle money.

Since we started back in November 2014 (yes, it's been 5 years!), we've been raffling prizes, sponsored by our local partners Griffin Books and Pencerdd Music, to raise money for charity. All the proceeds of these raffles are ring-fenced and donated to local charities, mostly music-related, and so far we have made over £3000-worth of donations, mostly in the form of musical instruments but also some straight cash donations, to MIND Cymru, Community Music Wales, Huggard, KeyCreate, Let Yourself Trust and most recently, Oshi's World.

All these are local charities who provide huge help and support to those who need it most. They are all extremely grateful to you for supporting us, and hence them, and we are also extremely grateful for your continued support!
This Saturday - An Evening with Willy Porter

Willy Porter has been turning first time listeners into die-hard fans for more than two decades. Willy blurs the line between indie-folk and rock with his searing signature finger-picking guitar sound, absorbing lyrics, and playful, high-energy live performance style. He has shared world stages with music icons Jeff Beck, Tori Amos, and Paul Simon, carving out a successful solo career as an artist who makes music that resonates long after the last guitar chord fades.

From the release of his breakthrough album, 1994 ' s Dog Eared Dream, to the launch of his own record label, Weasel Records, in 2005, Willy is an artist dedicated to delivering high-calibre, original musical experiences.

Equally accomplished as a guitarist, singer, and songwriter, his songs weave a universal perspective about the questions, struggles, and triumphs of human existence. His live shows are guitar-driven events--equal parts grit, soul, and muscle--that are electrifying, dynamic, and wholly original in the way that Willy's voice blends and fuses with his galvanising fret work.

Since his first appearance in Penarth with us a year ago, many of our supporters have been asking when he will return - well he's back! Whether in the studio or on stage, Willy Porter gifts listeners with an unforgettable ride, embodying the very best of what live music has to offer.

Please note that tickets for this event are £10 in advance or £12 on the door, if any are left!

Whiskey River - 20.12.2019
Many of you will have been blown away by Whiskey River Boys,  Martin Blake & Aidan Sheehan, when they played for us as a duo back in February 2017. Well they're back for our Christmas bash on Friday December 20th (Yes! It's 3rd Friday again, at last!), but this time with the full big-band experience, Whiskey River. They play Americana - Cajun, Zydeco, Good Country and Low Down Dirty Blues with a dangerous edge. Come and celebrate the end of 2019 with us!
