Dear <<First Name>>,
Alan and I had such a good time seeing you all at the farm for our third year of “Concerts in the Barn.” Now that the dust had started to settle, we wanted you to know that we met our three fundraising matches on the last day of our season. This means we are starting the 2020 season on strong financial footing.
The generosity of all our audience members fills us with gratitude. As you know, our goal is to bring chamber music performed by world-class artists to our community without charging an admission fee. You have shown us this year that our decision to open our concerts to the public was the right way to pursue our dream of giving back to the community what it has given us for so many years.
We are, needless to say, thrilled to have the Carpe Diem String Quartet
as our new artists-in-residence. They soon take their marvelous music on tour in China but have promised to return to the Barn next summer and for a longer season.
Having Jeff Midkiff
share the stage with the Quartet on our opening weekend was a rare delight. Who knew just how exquisite a mandolin could sound, both as a solo instrument and in concert with other strings? We hope to have Jeff return to the festival, along with other musical friends of the Carpe Diem, in the years ahead.
Many of you expressed an interest in joining our fledgling board. We will be contacting each of you in early fall to explore what this means and how we hope to proceed. We also welcome ideas and suggestions from all our audience members.
Wishing you all have a marvelous rest-of-summer! We promise to keep in touch throughout the year about all our plans for 2020.
Alan & Leigh
