Year of Marie Von Ebner-Eschenbach.  What was it like?

The tomb and surrounding grounds transferred into CNT ownership

The Zlin Municipality transferred the tomb of Marie von Ebner-Eschenbach, into CNT’s ownership in March. The 2 hectares of surrounding grounds were the generous gift of its Brazilian owner, Dr Jose Hlavnicka.  A few days later, we held a memorial service to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the writer's passing.
We launched the pilot project and opened the monument

The opening ceremony and project launch took place in June. Guests at the event were the Czech Minister of Culture, the Austrian ambassador to Czech Republic, representatives from the British national Trust, INTO, the Zlin Municipality as well as many other supporters.

Zdislavice welcome volunteers

Zdislavice hosted 3 week-long work camp and several work weekends, attended by volunteers from Ireland, UK, Norway, USA, Slovakia and Czech Republic. With their help, we managed to clear the grounds from the wild vegetation and make additional parts of the park accessible.

CNT representatives in Vienna’s St. Johanns Club

Our colleagues presented CNT and its pilot project in this renowned club. CNT was represented by Dr. Irena Edwards, Martin Krcma, Richard Podstatzky. The event was attended by various figures from Austrian cultural circles and opened by the Czech Ambassador to Austria Jan Sechter.
Marie von Ebner-Eschenbach but others too

While Marie von Ebner-Eschenbach was CNT’s main focus this year, other activities took place as well. Exhibitions, panel discussions, seminars and guided tours took place throughout the year. We also organized benefit concerts and CNT’s representatives attended various international conferences.

Celebrations in London of Charles IV's 600th anniversary

his architectural legacy on the occasion of the 2nd anniversary of CNT's founding.  The event took place in London's City and it met with a great success.

CNT receives grant from Avast Foundation

Restoration of the Chinese Pavilion in the Podzámecká Garden of Kromeriz chateau

Repairs of the Chinese Pavilion in Podzámecká Garden in the UNESCO chateau in Kromeriz began in November. To help the National Heritage Institute with raising the necessary funds the CNT established a crowdfunding campaign for its rescue and restoration, in which we managed to collect 122 000 CZK.  Collection continues at CSOB bank account 270472892/0300.  The first phase of reconstruction was finished a few days ago.  We are proud to have contributed with almost half of the 250 000 CZK cost needed and thank all who wish to support this project.

CNT is expanding

A new group of volunteers has been working in Prague since October, preparing new CNT projects and a working party in the capital. While activities in Moravia are under way and continuing, we can look forward to exciting news in Prague and at CNT in general.
