First things first, Nikki published her first book - Passport Joy: Reflections on Life, Love, & Other Stuff While Traveling the World. I am so pumped for her! I know how much time and energy she put into this big project.
If you have enjoyed following along with our journey, you will love how much she openly shares in the book. I was surprised at some of the stories she tells because she tends to be pretty tight-lipped, but she really lets the reader in on her journey. You can download on Amazon.
► We wrapped up our time in India with the huge wedding celebration of our friends Preetham and Spandana. Wow, what a trip! If you want to see the traditional clothing we wore, please check out the latest photos on my Instagram page or Nikki's, if you haven't already. It was so much fun being a part of these festivities. We talk all about it in this week's podcast episode - Hyderabad, India (Indian Wedding + Much More).
Not only did we have the opportunity to partake in the many ceremonies of the marriage including Sangeeth, Haldi, Groom’s Day, Bride’s Day, Mehndi, and the huge wedding event, we also visited Hitec City, Nalgonda, and Gandipet.
The incredible visit included a trip out delivering invitations on a motorbike, dancing choreographed steps to Indian music, and making a trip for Toddy palm wine. All of the people were incredibly kind from our friends' families to our amazing hosts. We stayed with four different families, met kids on the streets playing cricket, and enjoyed late nights understanding the culture.
This India trip will not be forgotten, and we hope you enjoy us telling our unique story of discovering more reasons why we love to travel so much in this episode of Passport Joy Travel Talk.
► If you want a taste of the street activity in Hyderabad and Nalgonda, I uploaded videos that will give you a glimpse of the day-to-day life. One is at a street-side tea and coffee stall, and the other is in the barber chair (no edits, no commentary). Yes, there is a ton of honking, but that's part of the experience in India ;)
► We had an unbelievable 23 hours in Kolkata, India (tell you all about it next week), before heading to Bangkok where we are catching up on things before we take off for Australia on Saturday. You can be sure that I will be checking the toilets for snakes before I handle my business there. That's crazy. Hoping we can avoid any situations like that for the month we are staying in Australia.
Can you believe it is March tomorrow? Unreal.
Reach back next week from Down Under. In the meantime, go get Nikki's book.
