Sorry to all of you Beatles Fans out there. We used Liverpool as a way to catch up on sleep for a couple of days and didn’t check out any of the city’s music history. After ten days of fun with our friends in Sicily, then a late night flight to London, about 3 hours of sleep, and nine train changes from London to Liverpool, we were ready to get some rest. We came north to Liverpool to grab the 3-hour ferry to Isle of Man, Ireland.
Why the Isle of Man, you ask?
The TT Motorcycle Races in the Isle of Man have been a sports bucket list event for me for six years since Nikki, and I watched an HBO Real Sports episode on these wild races. The motorcycles go around this small island at 180mph+ with the locals just feet away from the flying machines. I am so glad that we decided to build this into our travel plans. It has been amazing to witness.
Unfortunately, the reality of one of the most dangerous sporting events in the world took the life of a local professional rider yesterday in the first lap of the qualifying day. Nikki and I were in the Grandstand area when the news began to circulate that the day’s session had been canceled due to the horrible accident.
For those that listen to iHeartRadio, our podcast has made their listings. Check us out there if that is the way you like to listen to content on your device.
Do you have a desire to travel long term? We did. The question comes up often if we wish we would have made our adventure in our 20’s or early 30’s. We have had the chance to meet several travelers that are on gap years after high school and college. We have met couples traveling in their late 20’s that decided to take a few months off from their seasonal work.
In this week’s podcast episode, we talk through our thought process on the differences based on age and what-ifs. We also get into the details of the intimating Visa process and eliminating errors as we venture around the globe.
Okay - back to discovering this island and watching these crazy riders do the unthinkable.
