At Last! Pine Meadow Park is Underway

Construction on Pine Meadow park---the first new City park in over 20 years---has started.  On 8/17/21, the City Council approved the Pine Meadow Final Map, allowing the start of construction on the entire Pine Meadow project.

The park is part of an over-arching Settlement Agreement reached between the Friends of Pine Meadow and three Martinez citizens, the City, and DeNova Homes, the developer.  It encompasses the 8.22 acre public park and miscellaneous small parcels deeded to the City at no cost and $1,000,000 of park improvements paid for by the developer.

On Tuesday, 9/21/21 at 7P.M, the PRMCC will hold a virtual hearing to determine the process to be followed to get public input and determine park design recommendations.  Here is your chance to have a say in what the park looks like and what activities will be placed there. Martinez Fishing Pier Update

In early September visitors to the waterfront encountered an unexpected sight. After the scheduled inspection of the fishing pier, inspectors had determined that it was unsafe for pedestrian access. For some citizens of Martinez, this may have come out of the blue. But if you've been attending city council meetings regularly you know that this is a topic that the city council has been monitoring for a while.

In September 2021, an inspection revealed that pilings and other structural components that had been identified as watch locations were now deteriorated to a point where it was determined the fishing pier should be closed to pedestrian traffic until these issues could be fixed.

As the pier is an important component of the Martinez waterfront, the City decided to apply for a Proposition 68 competitive grant. The Grant involves refurbishing the pier and surrounding areas.
