Interim President Corner: by Kyle Young
Wow! We made it through that crazy year, and I'm sure we are all looking forward to gathering with friends. I am excited to see all the boats in the water and lake come to life for a great 2021 season.
I wanted to make you aware of some changes to our
board of directors. Our past president, Chuck Ranney,
and our vice president, Dave Smith, have both stepped down. At the director's meeting on April 23rd, we voted to replace the open president and vice president with an interim president and vice president until the June meeting. At that time a formal election process will take
place. Kyle Young was nominated to be the interim president, and Andy Brown was nominated to be the new
interim vice president. Both were approved.
I am looking forward to being the President of the Dewart
Lake Association again. As some of you might remember, I served two terms as president about twelve
years ago. While I loved it, my wife, Katie, and I were raising two small children and needed to devote more
time to our growing family and all of their activities. We have been full-time residents for the past 24 years, and we couldn't imagine living anywhere else.
I have lots of ideas and can hopefully bring a fresh perspective to the association. Sometimes we get stuck doing the same things year after year. I would like to do
some different activities and get more lake friends involved. In order to do that, I need your help. I have
asked Ora Freeman to make a post on the Friends of Dewart Lake Facebook Page, and would encourage you to give your suggestions for some things you would like to see in the future or even some things you think we maybe could do away with as an association. I look forward to reading your suggestions and working on new projects over the next couple of years. If you or a neighbor are not a friend of this page, please join us and spread the word! I look forward to seeing you on the
lake and serving our community!!-

will be at noon, with the meeting to follow at l:00 pm.
The DNR surveyed Dewart Lake recently and were able to catch 26 walleyes in 2 hours of electrofishing. The lengths of the fish ranged from 11.1 inches to 17.5 inches. The lake was stocked in 2019 with 3080 fish. The plan is to continue to stock the lake with walleye. If you are interested in helping to get this done, there is an opportunity to fund the fish stocking fund when you pay
your yearly dues. The legal length for catching Walleye in northern Indiana is 16”. Smaller Walleye are to be released.
Fireworks are not scheduled, but open to any group who
would like to present a display. This is not a DLPA sponsored event.
Roadside Clean Up
A time for the roadside cleanup has yet to be determined.
The annual DLPA Golf Outing will be held on Saturday,
July 10th at Wawasee Golf Club. Save the date and get
your teams rounded up. Mark Psimos is in charge. More
info to come. Watch the Friends of Dewart Lake Facebook Page.
