Construction is underway for the de la Cruz Gallery of Art
Currently under construction, the Maria and Alberto de la Cruz Gallery of Art on the Georgetown University campus is a new 2,500 square-foot art gallery that will provide a space for sculpture, painting, performance and installation art, among other varieties. The space will also offer visual-art exhibits and shows featuring major modern and contemporary artists. The gallery is in the Walsh Building, where the school’s Department of Art and Art History is based. The design for the space features a two-story glass curtainwall vestibule for the main entrance. The interior of the space will include new restrooms, a catering kitchen, and reception desk, with an equipment platform above holding state-of-the-art mechanical equipment. The gallery is named after Maria and Alberto de la Cruz, avid art collectors and Georgetown University alumni. DIAG Studios' Marcy Giannunzio, originally a part of the design team at her previous firm, is currently providing Construction Administration services. Construction scheduled to be complete this fall. The project team includes: Georgetown University, MCN Build, Howard + Revis Design, Quinn Evans Architects, DIAG Studios, Potomac Energy Group, Ehlert Bryan, and Summers Associates among others.
