The GVR yard sale is back! Next Friday, March 24, 7am, West Center loading dock. As GVR puts equipment and furniture out to pasture, it has been traditionally offered to members and community groups through a yard sale. Expect to see familiar tables and chairs, used but functioning computers, desks, exercise mats, etc. All proceeds are donated to GVR Foundation's MAP fund, helping members in need to pay their annual GVR dues. Cash or check only, please.

Are you prepared for a medical emergency at GVR? Recently, a member suffered a medical emergency on a sports court. Quick responses (CPR, AED use) from other players may well have saved a life. Please take a minute to note where emergency equipment is located at the centers you frequently visit. Most centers have large, prominently colored aid stations where members will find first aid kits, blood-borne pathogens protection kits, fire extinguishers, Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs), and in many cases, a phone. You have likely walked past an aid station without paying much attention to it.

Do not hesitate to use that AED if someone appears to be in cardiac arrest. The machine tells/shows you exactly what to do, and it will not shock a person who doesn't need it.

The address for the center is printed at the top of each aid station, on each AED, and is displayed on the fences inside sports courts. Help responders find your precise location at the center! If there are extra people around, it is a good idea to send people to the street or other locations to wave in emergency response vehicles.

Staff plan to complete the aid station project this spring. Look for aid stations near pools and fitness centers and in most major center lobbies near restrooms.

Interested in learning CPR? The Green Valley Fire Department offers classes locally. Click HERE for information.
