In the spirit of the holiday we want to say how grateful we are for the work that you do everyday. As a collective group of people working to make the world a better place, we see and recognize the hard work and dedication you demonstrate everyday. We also acknowledge that while there are many positive aspects to Thanksgiving, it is rooted in the oppression of native people and cultures. For ways to reteach and expand our thinking about the origins of the holiday, check out these resources:
Policy & Pints 2018
The Teach For America Jacksonville Alumni Board cordially invite’s you to this year’s Policy & Pints on November 28th  on the topic of school safety. Register today as tickets will go fast! We request an RSVP as appetizers and drink tickets for registrants will be provided. 
TFA Hometown Dinners 
We heard you! There need to be more opportunities for you to engage with and support CMs. CMs have also expressed a strong desire to spend more time in informal setting connecting with alumni. GOAL: Monthly dinners hosted by alumni or CMs for other alumni and CMs. Food costs will be covered by TFA.

To launch this initiative, and learn more about how you want to support CMs please complete this short survey. If you have other questions or want to discuss CM support further, please reach out to Jamie Luedtke.

#GivingTuesday - Nov 27th 
In honor of our 10 Year Anniversary, TFA alums that give a monthly donation of $8 or more (or a one time gift of $100) by #GivingTuesday, Nov. 27th, will receive a thank you ticket to our 10 Year Anniversary Celebration main event, along with some awesome swag! All alum donations of $10 or more will be matched 1:1 by our national board, and new monthly gifts of $5 or more will be matched 2:1 for the entire year! TFA Silver & Gold Party
Come celebrate with current CMs and alumni friends in your best silver and gold attire. Sip and socialize with appetizers and a cash bar. The event will begin at 7:00 at Uptown Bar and Grill, RSPV HERE so we know how much food to get! 
Miami Institute Positions 
Interested in growing your leadership while supporting CMs? Applications are now open for Miami Institute 2019 staff positions with deadlines approaching:
Instructional Coordinator, Program Management Coordinator and School Operations Coordinator - Dec 2nd. Operations Director, School Director and Content Specialist - Dec 17th. Be a Presenter at TEACH
TEACH: Better Together is seeking creative, innovative, and informative sessions for our 6th annual conference on Saturday, March 2, 2019. Breakout session proposals will be accepted until 5PM on Friday, January 4, 2019. Learn more here
School Leader of Color Conference
Registration is now open for the 7th Annual School Leaders of Color Conference! This conference, specifically designed for current school and school system leaders of color, will take place February 8-10, 2019 in Dallas, TX. Financial aid packages are limited so be sure to register soon
Join Us for Cultural Competency Sessions! 
ACC sessions are always open to alumni, but we are especially marketing two cultural competency sessions at ACC 2. There are two opportunities to learn alongside corps members. Staff Spotlight - Courtney Salazar
After graduating from Colorado State University, Courtney relocated to Florida as a 2012 Jacksonville Corps Member, where she taught kindergarten for 4 years at Martin Luther King Jr. Elementary and KIPP VOICE. While teaching in Jacksonville, Courtney met her husband Jojo, who was also a 2012 Jax corps member and received her M.S.Ed from Johns Hopkins University. She currently serves as the Manager, Communications and Stewardship on the TFA-Jax staff. In her free time, Courtney enjoys spending time with her husband, going on weekend road-trips, and exploring the unique history and culture of Jacksonville and its neighboring cities.
