Casting Call! - By Jan. 8th
We want to highlight you and your students at the 10th anniversary celebration! TFA Jax is looking for presenters, speakers and performers. If you are interested, or know a students, fellow teachers or community members who would be a great addition to the program please nominate them here. In particular we are looking for dancers, spoken word, and teachers who can share their journey.

Policy & Pints 2019
Policy & Pints has been rescheduled for Thursday, January 24th at 6:00 p.m. at Jacksonville University.  Whether you are currently or out of the classroom, the topic of school safety, mental health resources, and how to best protect our schools is being discussed at a local and national level. We would like for YOU to elevate the dialogue and join the conversation with a community panel of experts. Register here
TFA Hometown Dinners 
The first Hometown Dinner took place last week! It was a huge success, with an intimate group of corps members and alumni coming together to establish connections, discuss some of the challenges of teaching, and get inspired. We’d like to send a HUGE thank you to Allyson Reese (Corona) for hosting and making some mean pulled chicken! Hometown Dinners will continue throughout the year. To host or participate, complete this survey. If you have already completed the survey, expect someone to reach out by mid-January.

Alumni Board - Appreciation and Wellness Committee
Are you a Zumba head or a yogi? The Appreciation and Wellness Committee is planning exercise events for the new year and wants to learn which classes would interest you. Classroom Engagement with Junior Achievement
Are you out of the classroom, and looking for ways connect with students? Are you a classroom teacher that wants to support your students with financial and work-readiness skills? Then Junior Achievement has no-cost opportunities for you! Junior Achievement (JA) has programs from K-12 with hands-on lessons to prepare students for their economic futures. Volunteer for several visits over a few weeks, or for a few hours in one day.

Staff Spotlight - Myra Martinez
Myra Simmons Martinez (pictured right) joined the Teach For America family in January 2018 as the Director of Development. A Jacksonville native, Myra received her bachelor of business administration from JU. Prior to joining TFA, she worked at Children's Home Society of Florida for seven years as their Charitable Giving Director and DCPS from 1998-2010 in a number of roles including Communications Technical Manager. A proud product of DCPS, Myra is passionate about children and education, and is excited to work with her community to bring education equity to ALL students. In her free time she enjoys making homemade lotions, deodorants and soaps as well as spending time with her husband Maurice and their daughters.
