Join the Alumni Board!
Looking for a way to help engage, advise, and support the work of Teach For America Jacksonville? The alumni board is looking for new members to join the board this summer. This is a great way to connect with other alumni, learn project management and leadership skills, and build experience serving on a nonprofit board. If you are interested in learning more you can attend the upcoming board meeting, Tuesday, May 14th from 6-8 p.m., at the TFA office downtown. Reach out to Amanda if you want to discuss membership details further. Applications will open June 1st.

I Still Teach For America Dinner and Pod Presentations
There have been lots of exciting happenings for alumni and corps members this past week! On May 4th, the 2017 corps presented their Pod Presentations and four groups were awarded a $150 innovation grant. On May 7th, the annual I Still Teach For America Dinner inspired and celebrated our amazing alumni teachers.

Housing Recommendations
As you may remember Jacksonville can be a daunting place to figure out where to live.  If you know some great apartments to live in Jacksonville please share your recommendations with incoming CMs who are starting their housing research. You can fill out this short survey with your suggestions. (If you are no longer teaching please put N/A for school-related questions.)

Sign up today for one of the many great ways to help welcome our newest class of corps members to Jacksonville. Opportunities include joining in fun events, supporting CM learning, and helping with operations.
DCPS Facilities Project - Updates and Reactions 
Duval County Public Schools has continued to share details about the Facilities Master Plan and budgeting discussions are underway. As this process rolls out, a key role for alumni is to analyze and reflect on the potential impacts on equity, across Jacksonville. Here are a few resources and conversations to consider:

Summer Internships with Equality Florida
Equality Florida is the largest civil rights organization in Florida specifically dedicated to securing the rights of all LGBTQ+ individuals. Our Safe and Healthy Schools program is looking for a paid intern to support the work of implementing best practices, programs, and policies in school districts across the state to ensure that all schools are supportive of LGBTQ+ youth. Careers in Community Organizing for Social Justice

The Direct Action & Research Training (DART) Center will hold an online information session on Tuesday, May 14 at 7 pm eastern to discuss careers in community organizing with alumni members and alumni interested in uniting congregations and working for social, economic and racial justice. RSVP here
