Happy (almost) Spring! This crazy weather we've been having sure is keeping us on our toes! Here at the Ollie we've made use of some of the warmer days and had a month full of activities per usual.
In case you missed it:
Operation Clean Sweep
South Boston Operation Clean Sweep! It's a neighborhood movement to make our community a little cleaner. During February school vacation week, the Ollie School Age kids got involved and did an awesome job cleaning up! We invite you to get involved too and take note of the little bits of trash that can build up over time. Follow the hashtag #southiecleansweep to keep up with the initiative.
But don't worry! The Ollie kids did more than just clean during their February school vacation. Their activities included trips to the ice rink, hosting their own bake sale, and taking part in Save the Harbor/Save the Bay's Boston Harbor Explorers event where the kids learned all about the harbor sea life.
Yoga comes to Preschool!
We are so excited to finally be kicking off our Ollie Yoga Program! We've partnered with Karen Fabian from Bare Bones Yoga to bring all of the physical, mental, and social benefits of yoga to our programs here at the Ollie. We've started with our Preschool and we will expand it to our other programs from there. It's off to a successful start and we can't wait to see the positive impact yoga will have on our organization.
Annual Benefit and Auction
The South Boston Neighborhood House is proud to invite you to The House Is Where the Heart Is, our 31st annual benefit and auction. Join us on the waterfront for a night of great food and drink, dozens of silent auction items, dancing and a fantastic live auction.
This year, the Honorable Martin J. Walsh, Mayor of Boston, will receive the Joseph ‘Dodo’ Nee “Champion” Award and Kathleen Regan of Merrill Lynch will receive the Amy K. Murray “Angel” Award. Tickets on sale now!
Last weekend Team Ollie added a twist to their marathon training in the Superhero Fun Run with Charity Teams! We had a blast working our water stop for the run and seeing all the amazing costumes! We’re so proud of our Team Ollie runners completing the 17 mile run. Be sure to visit our team page to stay up to date on their training and fundraising progress!
Our Ollie Seniors had a fantastic time at their Valentine's Day Luncheon this month! The event featured amazing catered food, music, raffle prizes and of course some Valentine's Day chocolate. We were also very excited that tennis made a return this month after a brief hiatus. This month's activities also included an informative presentation from some MCPHS University students on the sign of depression and how to get help. The Ollie seniors never slow down so be sure to check out their March calendar.
