Fire Starter Festival 2021 Takes Place 1 - 5 February 2021!

We are delighted to announce that our next Fire Starter Festival (#FSF2021) will take place in the week of 1 - 5 February 2020 - so make sure you get those dates into your calendar!

Due to the current circumstances, the festival will take place predominantly online, even though hosts can host sessions outside, in line with the government's guidelines. So far, we already have a few events planned which will take place throughout the week:

Daily Sessions, running 1 - 5 February 2021:

  • Daily @ 8am: 'The Sanctuary' - a space for quiet, meditation and reflection
  • Daily @ 8.20am: 'Cafe' - opportunity to highlight events & hear poetry with guests
  • Daily @ 1pm: 'Lunchtime Cafe' - a time for sharing food and reflections
  • Daily @ 8pm: 'After Hours Cafe' - reflections on the day, music and more, hosted by guests
Individual Sessions in the calendar so far:
  • Monday, 1 February @ 10am -12pm: Launch Event with Legislative Theatre
  • Thursday, 4 February @ 10am: Inner Work for Creative Bravery

We would like to encourage everyone who is interested in hosting an event to go ahead and start planning. Events can be hosted in 50-minute time slots throughout the day, starting every full hour. You can host a session over two of these time slots if you wish for your event to be longer. The 50-minute time length has proven helpful in allowing people to get ready for another event. Ideally, we would like to ask you to avoid holding your event during the time of the launch event and the daily cafes.

As always, events are self-hosted and hosts would have to organise a video-conferencing platform to host their event on themselves. Events will either be promoted via an updated online events calendar on the website, onto which hosts can upload their events, or an online calendar document with clickable links. Either way, event hosts should upload their event onto Eventbrite, with the joining instructions to their video-conferencing platform included. We will update you closer to the time with more information on how to host and upload your events.

Weekly Campfires to Develop Ideas for #FSF2021

Sparked by positive feedback during the Creative Bravery Festival and Sparkfest, we are hosting weekly campfires on Zoom for you to share sparks and develop ideas for the upcoming festival!

We welcome anyone who is interested in how we reimagine society and public services; tackle local and global issues, as well as paying attention to how we maintain our ability to survive and thrive in times like these. Bring along your burning questions, ideas to ignite, and the things you want to burn to reimagine the world we live in. Your insights and diverse perspectives are what we need to fuel interesting conversations and keep the campfire going!

The campfires take place every Wednesday at 4pm, starting next week and running up until next year's Fire Starter Festival. Make sure you sign up to the campfire now - you can use the same Zoom link every time!

New Blog: Imagining How Things Could Have Been Otherwise

"Imagination has the ability to see things as they would be otherwise." John Dewey

Read our newest blog post on 'Imagining how things could have been otherwise', reflecting on the past months, the Creative Bravery Festival and how this has impacted our perception on how Fire Starter Festival 2020 could be held.
