With just over two months to go, the countdown is on to Fire Starter Festival 2019.

Building on the success of previous years, our annual festival is back with a bang from 28th January - 8th February 2019.
Read more below and don't miss out on taking part in all the fun!
Sign up now to host an event
There's still time to get in on the action and take part in this year's festival by sigining up to host your own event.

To start the process, just email Ingage@gov.scot and let us know you'd like to participate, or complete and send back our Host Application Form.

Your event will then be added to our festival listings where it will reach diverse networks and ensure a rich sign up.
Events hosted during the festival must be free to attend, accessible and open to all, and self organised. You can also apply for event funding.

What's on...
We're delighted to say that over 35 events have been registered for the festival so far, with topics ranging from education and health to mindfulness and the media.

Events include:

I DO like Mondays, Edinburgh
Transcend the January gloom and join an exploration of our best experiences of change. When we pay attention to what we love rather than what we find tough about work, what possibilities for change emerge?

Hopes and Dreams for your Childrens Future, Helensburgh
This ‘Conversation Café’ will tease out and explore your hopes and dreams for your children’s future (whatever their age) and explore what support and steps can be taken to make these a reality.

Escape: the role of play and games in facilitation of cultutre change and innovation, Edinburgh

This experiential event will explore how the concepts of play, puzzles and Escape Rooms can inspire a culture of creativity and  innovation at work.

CivTech Open Studio, Edinburgh
Come and visit the CivTech Studio in Codebase, the UK's largest technology incubator, to meet the team, learn about process and innovation flow and chat to their companies. CivTech are hosting three different events during the Festival - take a look at the festival schedule to find out more.

We are also very excited that both Ireland and Wales are interested in developing their own Fire Starter Festivals, so keep an eye out for some sparklers that will be emerging over the next few weeks.

Last tickets available for the launch
As you may know, we are excited to be kicking off the festival at the V&A Dundee on 28th January 2019. We've had extraodinary demand for tickets so make sure you grab the last few left!

In true Fire Starter style, this 'Design Your Own' launch will spark your curiosity, ignite your imagination, and give you the opportunity to come together with others to be a part of something truly magical.
It will be a creative, innovative and interactive event and we're delighted to announce that Future Generations Commissioner for Wales, Sophie Howe, will be speaking at the event.

Attend our Taster Session

As part of the run up to Fire Starter Festival 2019 we have been hosting taster sessions across Scotland so that people can learn more about the festival and how they can get involved.

Our tasters have brought together some really fantastic people and organisations from local communities and have instigated conversations about the small fires of change we can start in 2019.

Our next taster is at 10:00 - 12:00 on 5th December in Inverness and we'd be delighted if you could join us.

Can't make it to one of our sessions? We are really happy to come along to speak to groups or organisations interested in participating in Fire Starter Festival - just email ingage@gov.scot.

The annual Fire Starter Festival takes place for two weeks.

It offers a national platform to public services, including communities and charities, to highlight and celebrate innovation and creativity across Scottish public services.

With a particular focus on transformational change, it is co-produced and provides a creative space for people to showcase, share and explore the ways they are making a difference to Scotland.

You can also watch our quick 60 second introduction to the festival below, filmed with hosts, participants and speakers from previous events.
