We've updated the Coronavirus in South Africa dashboard to show the latest numbers. Confirmed Covid-19 cases increased by 424, to 8,232. 12,774 tests were conducted in the past 24 hours, 51% in the private sector and 49% in public sector laboratories. Eight more deaths were reported today, bringing the total to 161, nearly half of them are in the Western Cape. Reported recoveries have reached 3,153.

Testing in the provinces
We've added three new charts to the dashboard, by popular demand: one shows the total number of tests conducted in each province. One shows the number of tests as a proportion of the population of a province, and the third shows the number of tests done in the public and private sector.

Gauteng has done the most tests in total – 92,272– but as a proportion of total population, the Western Cape has tested the highest proportion of its population – 833 tests per 100,000 people.
