Reject Increased Immigration
Detention Spending

Today is a national call-in day to encourage Congress to approve just immigration spending.

Right now, Congress is considering funding levels that would further expand immigrant detention and deportations, resulting in more families being separated. This proposal for increased enforcement comes after Congress failed to pass the Dream Act or any bipartisan bill that would provide permanent protection for Dreamers.

As Congress considers funding a budget that would be used to detain 47,000 people daily among other purposes, we remember the recent ruling by the Supreme Court that prevents immigrants in long-term deportation proceedings from accessing a bond hearing, allowing indefinite detention.

We can use our freedom and position to advocate for people and families who are being separated. We remember that Scripture calls us to “speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves, for the rights of all who are destitute.”

Tell Congress to act now for a permanent solution for Dreamers and to oppose spending increases that separate families.
