Justice Seekers - Bi-Monthly

In this time of highly visible racial tension political leaders and media personalities have said noble and earnest things recently such as ‘we have to do better’. And our church denomination has posted a statement lamenting the deaths and calling for racial justice.

Changes are necessary and urgent. We’ve said some earnest things last month, or maybe last year….. But what’s going to change?  I heard an African American colleague say the other day ‘here we go again.’  She doubts change and needs to see action.

So where do we go from here?  I look to the book of Acts for a guidance and hope.  Read my full reflection here.

Support Canada’s Commitment to Indigenous Rights!

Following the elections last year, the government made a commitment to pursue legislation to implement the U.N. Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples by the end of 2020. As a Christian who is called to seek reconciliation and justice, express your support for that commitment and encourage legislation that is built on the floor of Bill C-262.

Out and About
So we're not out and about very much right now but we're still busy preparing for fall and connecting with churches digitally!  Justice Mobilizer Cindy Stover shares with us the anatomy of a COVID desk.

"Working from Home" office/coffee table, circa Aug, 2020.

Note the:
- empty coffee mug - the kitchen is just so far away 😞
- laptop full of emails
- curriculum design flash cards (#YARP2020)
- 3 bags of cat treats to fend off that fluffer who's about to jump on my 'desk' 😻
- 3+ bags or bowls of human treats to motivate me as well as an orange that I'm supposed to eat before I have any candy
- beading crafts to help keep my hands busy so I can pay attention in long zoom meetings
- earbuds AND earphones for when the batteries die on the earbuds
- 4-5 books on racial justice and reconciliation
- 2+ hand lotions for my desert-dry hands after all the sanitizer being used everyday 🙌
- a makeup bag for the (maybe?) 5 times I've left the house on a weekday in the past 3 months
