The Office of Social Justice works with our Canadian partner, the Christian Reformed Centre for Public Dialogue, to provide advocacy opportunities for Canadians.
After 40 years of refugee sponsorship,
let’s recommit to refugee welcome!
1 in 110 people worldwide are displaced from their homes, within their own countries or forced out as refugees. Amidst a rising tide of nationalism and barriers to resettlement around the world, Canadians’ compassion is being put to the test.
Since 1979, Christian Reformed churches responded to the images of displaced people fleeing Vietnam by opening up their hearts, their wallets, and their congregations to resettle refugees. This year marks 40 years since we began to welcome refugees through the Private Sponsorship of Refugees Program!
Let’s mark 40 years of refugee welcome by re-committing to the biblical call to “welcome the stranger.”
