Congregations Are Leading the Way

In the past six months it’s been exciting to watch the Climate Witness Project (CWP) take on a life of its own. Because of active partners like you, in so many congregations across the U.S. and Canada, we’ve been seeing new projects, like the Cooler Smarter series and the crowdsourced creation care worship resources, start with a couple of enthusiastic local people and then multiply into even more actions. Through all of our grass roots passion we continue to see success around the pillars of worship, energy stewardship, advocacy and community education. Thank you for all that you are doing. Let’s keep it up in 2019!

Creation Care Worship Resources

The day is finally here!

Together with our partners Calvin Institute of Christian Worship and CRC Worship Ministries, we’ve been hard at work on a brand new collection of crowd-sourced worship materials, written by YOU! We’re so excited to finally start sharing them with you, starting this week with a collection of prayers.

May our worship call us more fully into our God-given identities as creation stewards and God-worshippers.

Every week this month we’ll release a new section of the collection: from prayers to visuals, from sermon notes to liturgies at justice.crcna.org/worship.

Support Bipartisan Climate Solutions!

The Energy Innovation and Carbon Dividend Act will drive down America’s carbon pollution and bring climate change under control, while unleashing American technology innovation. This bill has received bipartisan support, will reduce carbon emissions, put money in the pockets of Americans, create jobs in clean energy, and operate as revenue neutral, thus the government will not keep any collected revenue. Ask your Member of Congress to support the Energy Innovation and Carbon Dividend Act!

Faith in Action: Practicing Biblical Advocacy Workshop

Contacting elected officials may be daunting, but sharing your well-informed opinion can make a real difference on the justice issues that you care about, and can bring about long-term changes to unjust systems.

The Faith in Action: Practicing Biblical Advocacy workshop will help you learn how to navigate the Canadian political system to have your voice heard by local, provincial, and national leaders. In the four-part workshop, you’ll learn research methods, key messaging, letter writing, how to plan and role-play your talking points, and how to set up in-person meetings.

Would you like to receive it as soon as it's ready? Sign up here!

Bangladesh Videos Bible Study Materials Coming Soon!

The Climate Witness Project will be launching The Bangladesh Bible Study Series soon. This is going to be a three-week Bible study designed to help Christians engage faithfully with the issue of climate change in church groups, youth groups, community organizations, and more. It not only explores our biblical mandate to be stewards of creation but also convicts us of our Christian calling to be advocates for people who are poor and vulnerable. Stay tuned for more!

Cooler/Smarter: Living Your Climate Witness Workshop Series

Cooler/Smarter: Living Your Climate Witness is a 7-session workshop series designed to help individuals and families that want to get serious about reducing their carbon footprints. Each workshop will take place at a different congregation throughout Grand Rapids and will be facilitated by a Climate Witness Partner. We will also be sharing highlights from the sessions via video later—stay tuned!  Learn more and register for the workshops here!
