The State Department has announced it will cut off foreign assistance to El Salvador, Guatemala, and Honduras.
This money has funded development and humanitarian aid organizations who are seeking to address the root causes of migration, which include violence, poverty, and political instability. This work has shown to be very effective; for example, the Association for a More Just Society has used these funds to create life-saving violence prevention programs in Honduras.
These cuts will only further destabilize El Salvador, Guatemala, and Honduras, drive more refugees to seek safety, and end life-saving work in those regions.
Ask your Member of Congress to oppose this decision and ask
the State Department to reverse its decision to cut aid to
Guatemala, El Salvador, and Honduras!
