It has been too long since we have communicated with you, our Ambassadors. We’ve been so focused on supporting the community of Donors and Grant recipients in the past two years. A lot has been achieved in that time.
I thought I would start by giving you a quick update on some of our overall COVID-19 results from the donations we received and the grants they allowed up to provide.
We had two main granting programs that are COVID-19 related. Our grassroots fund is called the “CW COVID-19 Community Response Fund” (CW-CRF). The second was from the Canadian Government and called the “Emergency Community Support Fund” (ECSF). Many told us that CW-CRF gave local donors an easy way to help support our community.
To give you an idea of what that looked like, I’d like to share two new handouts we’ve prepared with you. They are part of a series of three infographics that talk about CWCF’s response and granting. The third infographic will highlight the number of donors and other impacts.
Last fall, we also squeezed in a $6,500 Jack R. MacDonald grant program focused on community more than just COVID. It felt good to have granting programs that could address community needs and programs also specifically address COVID-related needs.
We have lots more coming in the next few months, including a new fund focused on social determinants of health (SDOH) with an initial focus on food. We also hope that we can plan our Community Update and Granting Night as an in-person event this year? You will be the first to know if and when we proceed.
Project Grants opening April 1st, 2022
We are also running our project grant granting program this spring. These are for grants up to $1,500 and are based on our Vital Signs 2019 report. Please pass along the word to anyone you think could benefit. Send them to our homepage www.cwcfoundation.ca for all the details.
We are fortunate to have such a great group of individuals, including yourself, as Ambassadors who have a passion for CWCF and Centre Wellington.
I`m looking forward to working with you in 2022. Please don’t hesitate to reach out to me at any time; we value your input.
