SPECIAL EDUCATION SUPPORT GROUP MEETING

Have a kiddo with an IEP or a 504 plan? Work with these kids? Want to support these kids and the wonderful teachers and staff who support them? Curious about how to get help for your child? Come join the first Stevens Special Ed Support Group of the year on October 15 at 6:30pm in the Stevens library. Reach out to the Special Education Team with questions and to join the email list!

RACIAL EQUITY

Please join the Stevens PTA Racial Equity Team at our fall 2019 book discussion! We'll be discussing White Fragility, by Robin DiAngelo. The discussion will take place at 6pm on Thursday October 24th at Victrola on 15th. There are books available to borrow at Stevens! Please RSVP to the Racial Equity Team. Also, Robin DiAngelo has posted a few videos related to her work--if you don't get through the book, or are looking to supplement it, take a look here. Finally, the author of our previous book discussion, Ijeoma Oluo, recently spoke at Town Hall Seattle, and the video from that event is online here.

Hope to see lots of folks at the book discussion on Oct. 24. Please direct any questions or comments to the Racial Equity Team.

Best,
Yancy

TUTU'S PANTRY

DID YOU KNOW?

Last year, Tutu's Pantry:

  • handed out 25-30 kids backpacks full of meals and snacks for each weekend of the school year
  • provided 46 gift cards with 27 huge boxes of food for the holidays
  • gave families large bags of food for Spring Break
  • had a fully stocked pantry for a few months following the wildly successful food drive during the holidays
  • AND raised enough funds through grants, a family foundation, individual donations and the final fundraisers to ensure the program is fully funded for the next couple of years!

Your generosity counts! THANK YOU from the bottom of our hearts!

About Tutu's Pantry
Tutu’s Pantry is a program dedicated to help students in the Stevens Community.  Each week the volunteers at Tutu’s Pantry ask a specific grade to help provide supplies for the Pantry Closet.  On Friday, students served by the pantry are sent home with a backpack of kid-friendly, easy-to prepare meals for the weekend. We encourage families who are able to participate to bring in nonperishable food items. Click below for a detailed guide.

TUTU'S Details

Each week two grades are asked to provide food for Tutu’s Pantry.  Below is the donation rotation for October, but please feel free to donate at any time.

Oct 7-10: 5th and 2nd

Oct 14-18: 3rd and K

Oct 21-25: 4th and 1st

Oct 28-Nov 1: 5th and 2nd

Next month we will be sharing the birth story of Tutu's Pantry along with more ways you can help and get involved! STAY TUNED!

If you are interested in joining the Tutu's team, please contact Tutu's Pantry
BRRRRRR

It's getting cold!  At Stevens we have a coat rack for sharing warm winter items, you can find the rack to the right of the main office.  Come grab what you need, anytime! If you have a coat that you have outgrown, feel free to add it to the collection! We request that all donated items are freshly laundered.  Thank you for helping keep our kids warm! Questions? TEACHER SPOTLIGHT

We have several new members of the Stevens team this year and what better way to welcome them than to feature each of them in our monthly Scoop for our community to meet?! Keep your eyes open in November's issue for the introduction of a new friend!
