Give thanks to the Lord, call upon his name, make known his deeds among the peoples, proclaim that his name is exalted. “Sing praises to the Lord, for he has done gloriously; let this be made known in all the earth.

Thank you for your Harvest Gifts and all your donations

God continues to bring amazing changes through the work of GNFC, this week for example a resident told us how much she felt loved at GNFC, in a way she has never felt before. Many women who come through the doors comment on the deep sense of belonging and being part of the family that they feel, lives are truly transformed through God revealing Himself in the most difficult of circumstances.

Everyone who is working and supporting the service of GNFC demonstrate the love of God for each person that we serve, it is truly a privilege to be part of this story and the journey of people we work with. We thank you for picking up the baton and saying yes to His calling and the part you play. All your support is valued: volunteering, praying, giving, voting for us in competitions.  So many of you support us with your skills in baking, in IT, in farming, in so many ways, GNFC could not go on without you.

Thank you!

The Good News Family Care Thanksgiving and Anniversary Celebration is on:
Saturday 18 November 2017 at 10.00am - 4pm

We warmly invite you to the Anniversary to celebrate God's work through GNFC over the last 23 years. There will be refreshments from 10am followed by a service at 11am where you will hear from the team, see certificates of achievement being awarded and be updated with updates from services across GNFC. Following the service there will be a buffet lunch at 1pm alongside sales of GNFC products and displays from each department.

If you have a testimony of how God has impacted you through GNFC, please talk to a member of staff so that we can see if we can include it during the day.
Do come and visit, talking to our team and residents from the past and present you will get deeper into the way lives are changing here and what that means to families.  If you are free on the first Friday of each month you would be very welcome to join us at our coffee morning at Charis House where you can meet our community and see some of the things we have made in the Creative Well-being Group.
Maybe you have more time to spend with us: On the farm there are opportunities to volunteer in the outdoors, if you prefer something warmer we need volunteers in nursery and in the Family Centre and in administration.  If you live further away and would like to set up a prayer and support group, please let us know.

freedom2live Recovery Centre
The flow of residents through Recovery at Oldfield Farm is like a healing stream. At the springhead, M who has been referred by Manchester City Council Social Care is looking forward to coming to Oldfield Farm after detox; D after 7 months is ready to move into Charis House and step into more independence; A is looking out from Charis House, volunteering at the Source café and applying for a flat to move on in the next few months.  C now lives independently in Buxton with her young child, coming in to Charis House to volunteer, including helping with decorating.
GNFC Play Centre
Plans for a soft play for younger children are on course thanks to funding from Bingham Trust, Barnabus Charitable Trust and the Satterthwaite Trust and of course you! We are working towards opening soon. As new families come in with children we can reach further into our community with hope and support.
Work skills Projects
We now have 100 chickens; residents collecting and processing eggs are working towards our in-house poultry certificate.  A young man from Youth Offending has worked with Matthew on the Oldfield water system to bring it up to Local Authority requirements. One 19 year old has been inspired to volunteer after Matthew spoke at the Job Centre.  A wonderful professional electrician has worked with use to put in new consumer units and cabling in the barn and stables; three horses are now at livery.  We are always grateful for work parties who make a real difference to jobs needing person-power on the farm, including a group from Sheffield this week- we praise God for them.
Family Centre
Residents are getting stuck into decorating the entrance hall at Charis House. Staff and residents want to say “you are worth the best” to newcomers with a welcoming bright entrance. Please speak to Sarah if you have paint, brushes or other decorating paraphernalia that you could donate for the work.

As Charis House is in a Conservation area windows are very expensive to repair.  Now we have £5000 from Screwfix which will allow professional repairs starting with the entrance porch.
Thank you Screwfix!
Aviva Communiuty Fund
Voting will be open from 24th October - 21st November. High Peak Community Arts are submitting an application in partnership with GNFC and being sponsored by Bollington Insurance. The application is to fund a variety of projects run by the Creative Well-being group at Charis House. These projects have helped those who have attended the group to develop new skills and realise their creativity.
