 Celebrating David Gentry:
For over 20 years, David Gentry has served us faithfully as our sexton. No job was too big or too small for David, and he drew great pleasure from helping any and everyone who asked for his help, and from being a member of our community.

Now that David is moving into retirement starting on Friday, October 25, it’s time for us to express our gratitude to David for his lengthy and faithful service to Grace Church. I invite all of you to make a cash contribution to a purse we’re collecting for David. Please bring your cash gifts to the church office by Wednesday, October 23. We’ll present it to David at our celebration of his service to us on Sunday, October 27.

Thank you,
Greg Townsend
Senior Warden

Education for Ministry (EfM): The group is getting started and will meet on Thursday evenings at 6:00 p.m. in the library. We may need one more person to finalize this group, so if you're sitting on the fence, please jump in!  Plan to join us for the first year of this four-year program. You can take the training one year at a time. Some people may decide to miss a year and then come back for more later. The core of the program is the small group and the relationships you build with one another while learning about God, Jesus, theology and your own spirituality. Your guides during this journey are Nancy Walters and Christopher Jaquette. If you are interested or have questions you may contact Christopher, Nancy, Fr. Bob, Fr. Gary as well as other parishioners who have participated. The cost is $375 per year and Fr. Gary is offering a $200 scholarship to each student. Informational packets are available in the foyer.

Dinner with UNCA’s Episcopal Campus Ministry: On Monday, October 21st Grace will host a Home-Cooked Pot-Luck supper for the ECM students and their leader Megan Cox. Serving family style using our round tables we want to have as many members come out and welcome these students. Remember back to your late teens and being away from home and how important a welcoming meal was. It’s really about the fellowship more than the meal. They’ll come around 6:30 and have a meeting following. In addition to dinner if time allows we may offer a history/tour of the church and the windows. Come help us welcome the ECM. Watch for sign-up sheets and more details coming to a foyer in your church soon.

Evensong Concert:  The Grace Church Choir will commemorate the Feasts of All Saints and All Souls with an Evensong service on Wednesday, October 30 at 7:00. This prayerful service will offer scripture readings, congregational hymns, canticles, and choir anthems. Parishioners are invited to submit first names of loved ones who have died to jamescassarino@gmail.com, so the choir can remember them at Evensong. We will chant the Litany of Saints and we’d like to include their names.

"Episcopal House" Building Continues: Thanks to all the volunteers who are helping at the Episcopal Build XIII. This photo is of Larry Bowen at the house site. If there is a day you would like to work on the house between now and the end of October, please contact John Woodson at 645-4293 and he will schedule you. There are plenty of time slots still available. The future homeowner was approved last week, and her name is Caviena Crosse. See more information on the Parish News bulletin board in the foyer.

T-Shirts Are Here: Over the past two Sundays a little over half of the 86 Grace t-shirts ordered have been handed out. All of the corrected women's sizes are available. Larry and Lucy Bowen will be in the foyer of the Parish Hall this next Sunday, October 6, with the t-shirts before church.  If you ordered a shirt we hope you will be there next Sunday to pick it up.  If you have not yet paid the cost is $12.  Please make your check out to Grace Episcopal Church and in the memo line put t-shirt.  We would like to get everyone their t-shirt.

The Men of the Church will be meeting this Tuesday, October 8 at 6:00 p.m. at the home of our host and cook, John Rigsby. His address is 103 Dogwood Drive, Weaverville. The cost is $15.00. All men of the church are welcome.  Please sign up on the blue sheet on the bulletin board in the foyer or contact John to let him know you'll be there.

The Pumpkins Are Here! Thank you to all who came out last Sunday to help unload!  This is a wonderful Outreach fundraiser for Consider Haiti! Throughout the month of October, we need people to work the patch. There is a sign-up calendar in the foyer, or CLICK HERE to sign-up online. Please consider coming, bringing friends and family and enjoying the patch!

The Mountain Chapter of the Order of St. Luke will meet on Thursday, October 10, from 6:30 - 8:30 PM in the parish hall.  All are welcome.  One does not have to be an OSL member to attend. We continue our focus on Being Transformed by the Renewing of our Minds (Romans 12:2).  We’ll watch the healing journey of a young woman who for years battled lupus and then had to be on dialysis because her kidneys were failing. Her heart also began to fail. Through standing on the truth of God's Word, she made a complete recovery. We'll discuss how unbelief limits our possibility for healing and cut ourselves free from unbelief.  Please join us!  You will bless us with your presence.
