Principal's Message

March 15, 2017

Dear Roy & Dora Whitman Academy Community,

We are soooo proud of our cross country running teams!  Since the start of the school year, these 20 dedicated students woke at the crack of dawn to practice running at least 2x/week and disciplined themselves to do extra after school exercises in order to train their bodies to be fit to run the 242km Dead2Red Marathon. The students should be commended on just the discipline and dedication alone, BUT not only did they train excellently, they also placed well. The "Raskallions" team took first place among the school teams and  2nd place overall. The "For the Extra Credit" team took 5th place among the school teams and 16th place overall.  So AMAZING!  Many thanks to their coach - Hanna Nuqul and all the other parents who supported the team in various ways.

This week has been dubbed “Positive Charge Week”. Teachers and students have been intentional about giving positive feedback and encouragement, calling out the good things they see in others.  It’s been fun to observe the enthusiasm everyone has been putting into the project.  Consider picking this up at home as well.

The board is still working on studying the split vs. consecutive weekend decision. They need a bit more information before they make the decision in the April meeting.  The FESC is also continuing to work on the facilities issue.  We finally heard back from JETS about the proposal we gave them for review back in November.  We will continue with our feasibility studies and negotiations on that proposal and keep investigating other options.

Please enjoy a restful, safe, and happy spring break!

Blessings,

Julia J. Nuqul, M. Ed., Ed. D.
