Greetings in Christ,
This bi-monthly newsletter is being started with the intent to increase visibility into the work of Christian Mission to Israel (CMI). We will be distributing it to both current supporters and also to people or organizations we believe are interested in its mission. For those of you who are just being introduced to its work, CMI is currently supporting two organizations in Israel: HaGefen Publishing (HaGefen) and Grace and Truth, an Israeli Christian church. David Zadok is the director of HaGefen and also the pastor of the Grace and Truth congregation. David will be providing regular updates into the work of these Israeli organizations in the main body of the newsletters. This President’s section will be used to provide insight into the workings of CMI in America.
As a way of background, the history of HaGefen goes back to Robert Murray M'Cheyne and the Church of Scotland which in the mid-19th century established the “society for
propagation of the Christian faith among the Jewish people." Today HaGefen is a Christian publishing house located in Israel and is currently working on translating a number of books from English into Hebrew, as well as into Russian, Farsi, Amharic, Turkish, and Arabic. There is a tremendous need for Christian literature in Israel to support the further education of local Christians in a language they can understand.
Grace and Truth is a Christian church located in Israel. It is the only Christian church built from scratch to be constructed in the Jewish part of Israel since the formation of Israel in 1948. My wife and daughter were able to tour the facility in a visit earlier this year and were awed with the beauty of the building. Unfortunately, there is still work to be done in order to obtain their final occupancy permits and the congregation is not able to financially support the finalization of this building on its own.
CMI was formed to support the spread of the gospel to Jewish people and virtually all of the funds raised are used in direct support of these two organizations. We would ask that you please prayerfully consider financially supporting this important work to bring Jewish people to the realization that the Messiah has come and He is Jesus.
