If you suspect a gas leak, evacuate everyone from the building immediately and then call 9-1-1 from a safe location to report the problem. It is important to avoid using anything that could create a spark (cell phone, flashlight, light switch, matches, etc.) on the premises. DO NOT re-enter the building until emergency crews have declared it to be safe.
Fort Hood Family Housing wants to help keep your family safe from a gas leak. Never let small children play with or near natural gas appliances or pipes, even the knobs on the oven or cook top. It is also important to store household chemicals or combustible materials away from gas appliances in your home.
