Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, and faithful in prayer – Romans 12:12
More than a year ago, we called Canadian Baptists to be united in prayer as the reality and harsh implications of the global pandemic began to take grip of our lives.  We celebrate the evidence of God’s faithfulness to us and are inspired and encouraged by the creative ways that our churches have continued to proclaim and demonstrate the gospel.

It is time to come together again.

People across Canada and around the world continue to struggle.  New variants, exploding numbers in India, and pictures of suffering as hospitals are depleted of oxygen are foremost in our minds.  In Canada, case numbers continue to rise, and many have experienced heartbreaking loss.

Pastors are tired as they continue to serve, lead, and provide pastoral care in the midst of changing regulations and different expectations.  Healthcare professionals are exhausted and traumatized by overwhelmed hospitals and ICUs.

In this context, we call Canadian Baptists to pray, in unity, to the source of hope, our Lord.  We invite every Canadian Baptist church to join together on May 16 for a National Day of Prayer.  We recognize that this is short notice, but believe the time for prayer is now.  Whether you are meeting in-person or online we are asking that you take time in your gathering to join in prayer and intercession.
Specifically, we are inviting churches to pray for the physical, spiritual, and mental health of all those impacted by Covid-19:
  1. Those directly impacted by Covid-19…  May God grant healing, comfort, and peace.
  2. Healthcare Professionals…  May God grant strength, perseverance, and rest.
  3. Essential Workers...  May God grant protection as they serve on the frontlines.
  4. The Poor and Marginalized… May God protect those who are especially vulnerable.
  5. Government Leaders and Policy Makers… May God grant wisdom and a desire to work for the good of all – both at home and abroad.
  6. Our Churches… May God use us to provide support and hope as we care for the most vulnerable in our neighbourhoods and around the world.
Thank you for praying together.  We serve the Lord who is making all things new!
“This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us.” – 1 John 5:14.
