4 WAYS TO WRITE MORE ENGAGING IG CAPTIONS

1/ GRAB YOUR FOLLOWERS' ATTENTION BEFORE THE FOLD (aka the "more" button)
Most often, your followers are scrolling through quickly and not inclined to stop & read unless they have a reason to! If your CTA or attention grabber is after that “more” button, chances are they might never get there.

Try putting your CTA front & center, using a bold headline or even simply starting with a “Can I share something with you?”
⠀⠀
2/ MAKE YOUR CAPTIONS EASY TO READ
Duh, right? Here’s a cool fact...The eye reads in an F-pattern, where it first scans the left side vertically for keywords or points of interest at the start of a paragraph. Once it picks up something of interest, it THEN reads horizontally.

If your text isn’t broken into paragraphs and easy on the eyes, it’s more likely to be skipped over. ENTER, the Preview app, which will format your entire post for you, spaces + everything.

3/ TAKE SELF-SERVING CAPTIONS OFF THE TABLE
Every time you write a new caption, ask yourself, “am I providing value?”

You should be mentally checking off at least one of the following, each time you post: Does my caption...INSPIRE - EDUCATE - ENTERTAIN? If you’ve got all 3, well, you go Glen Coco!
⠀⠀
4/ DON'T UNDERESTIMATE THE POWER OF PLANNING
Think about how much time goes into the process of posting on Instagram: brainstorming, putting together a look or layout, shooting, editing, tagging and posting. Why do captions always seem to come last, right when you're ready to click that publish button?

Set aside some time to plan out your captions with intention.

If you want to get engagement you have to create a space for it in the first place; a rushed caption might hinder your ability to do that!
