Winning Library Grants Workshop 
Arrowhead Library System

 We are happy to announce registration is now open for the Winning Library Grants Workshop on Tuesday, April 23, 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., at the Arrowhead Library System Headquarters in Mountain Iron!  Library grants expert and author Stephanie Gerding will help attendees discover the confidence, knowledge, and skills needed to win library grants.  Practical advice, easy grants for beginners, partnership ideas, and valuable resource lists will be shared.  This workshop is free and open to all ALS member public, school, academic, and special library staff, friends, and trustees.

A $5 pizza lunch will be served in the afternoon -- if you are interested in participating, please note on your registration.  Morning and afternoon refreshments will be provided and feel free to bring your own snacks.  A registration reminder/confirmation will be sent out two business days before the workshop.  Clock hour certificates will be awarded to all participants.

Arrowhead Library System Facing the Future Summit
Please join us for the Arrowhead Library System Facing the Future Summit on Wednesday, May 1, 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., at the Northeast Service Cooperative in Mountain Iron!  This event is open to all Arrowhead Library System member public, school, academic, and special library staff, trustees, and friends.  We are excited to welcome fantastic guest speakers for three unique sessions -- please see the Summit agenda below:

Native American Library Services Basic Grants; one-year grants available to federally recognized Native American tribes and Native Alaskan villages and are designed to support existing operations and maintain core services of tribal and Native village libraries. 
Deadline: April 1, 2019


This Mini-Grant is an award of up to $500 that the Ezra Jack Keats Foundation gives to eligible organizations (public schools, public libraries and public preschool programs such as Head Start ) to provide creative, innovative programs that support or extend the Common Core Standards in education. Programs may serve children from preschool to grade 12.
Deadline: March 31, 2019 at 10:59 PM Central  

The Greater Midwest Region (GMR) of the National Network of Libraries of Medicine (NNLM) has released nearly $500,000 in funding opportunities! Public libraries in Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Michigan, Minnesota, North Dakota, Ohio, South Dakota, and Wisconsin are encouraged to apply*. Projects should include promotion of NNLM resources such as MedlinePlus.

Our office is calling for applications due April 1st for the following funding opportunities:
  • Research Data Award: Up to $20,000 (Applications due April 1st)
  • Emerging Initiatives Award: Up to $10,000
    • substance misuse/opioids, science, embedding health information in library and information sciences (LIS) programs, and HIV/AIDS.
  • Health Information Outreach Award: Two funding levels available up to $20,000 and $50,000
  • NNLM All of Us Public Library Partnership Award: Up to $20,000
  • Expert Speaker Award: Up to $2,500 (Two application deadlines: April 1st & September 2nd)
Two additional awards will be open for application on May 1st:
  • NNLM All of Us Consumer Health Collection Award: Up to $1,000:
    • Small and Medium-size libraries will receive funding to purchase health books for their collection. A list of titles to choose from will be provided.
  • NNLM All of Us Consumer Health Information Kiosk Award: Awardees receive a preconfigured kiosk
