Inside Riverside

Lots of news in this edition of our newsletter, but first we are delighted to launch our new  'Two Minute Tour of Riverside'. Just click on the video below for a quick look around at the space where so many exciting activities take place!  Information about booking a room can be found on our website here.
More good news is that Friends of Riverside have been able to reduce our hire charges for some of our smaller rooms, which make them even more affordable! Click here to check out our hire charges. We do have a number of classes and activity sessions which have been booked at Riverside, but there are still some time slots available. So please contact us if you are interested in hiring a room!

Also in this newsletter, find out about our exciting Autumn Programme with new activities, classes and events such as a music supper event on 28th October with Tamar,  a date from their "A Long Way From Home Tour" and a Christmas Fair on 25th November. Our new virtual tour linked to Google is also explained.
.
You can catch an update on Saturday Friends, aimed at seniors in our community and we are now offering the opportunity of local transport to and from the Centre. Plus find out what Friends of Riverside have been busy with over the summer, including St. Aldhelm's Fair, Petticoat Lane, Emma's Repair Cafe  and supporting Malmesbury Carnival on procession day.  Have to say that was the first time we have had ancient romans and cavaliers in our cafe area and we can't wait to see who comes along next year!

Exciting times and we look forward to seeing you at Riverside!

What's On At Riverside

Have a look at our Autumn schedule there's lots for everyone to enjoy!  Friends of Riverside and the 'public at large' have been delighted by the variety of popular activities, clubs and classes held at Riverside.

As well as our current favourites, we also have some new sessions, so there really is something for everyone!

It's also worth pointing out that the instructors and class or group leaders provide sessions at very reasonable rates and with a real passion for their interest.

We would encourage people wherever possible, to support these session providers, so if you fancy an activity or class, then give it a go... and bring a friend or family!  In this way we will maintain the rich choice and diversity we have established at Riverside!

Please see our website page "Who's at Riverside" for the range of sessions suitable for everyone - babies, children and adults!

Our virtual tour is also linked to Google, if you search for Riverside Community Centre, Malmesbury.

A big thank you to local photographer
Andy Willis for supporting Riverside by providing us with our Virtual Tour at a heavily discounted rate and also for the pictures used in our whizz through Two Minute Tour video.

News Update
A busy summer for the Friends of Riverside with fundraising stalls at both St. Aldhelm's Fair and Petticoat Lane in Malmesbury.

We love doing this as it is a great opportunity to catch up with those who already know us from activities at Riverside. It's also an opportunity to introduce ourselves to those still to visit us.
Our grateful thanks to those who stopped by our stall.

Funds raised by us go towards the Riverside Community Centre itself and to help us to fund the projects and events which the Friends of Riverside organise or support.
We were delighted to support the Malmesbury Carnival on procession day by opening Riverside for refreshments and as a kind of mini 'command centre' for the stewards, for entrants and even some spectators dropped by.

We always welcome a diverse range of people at Riverside, but have to say 'Ancient Romans' in our cafe area were a first for us!
Saturday Friends for seniors is still going strong. This is a Friends of Riverside project, older people can just drop in to socialise with others, enjoy optional activities and free refreshments.

We are now offering the opportunity of local transport to get to our Saturday sessions, please contact us for more details!

And Something A Little Bit Different ...

EMMA'S REPAIR CAFE - A fab fundraising event organised by Emma, with Friends of Riverside. Thanks to all who came along, an amazing 26 repairs completed and £178.29 raised before expenses! What a great concept, from sewing on a button to getting rid of a computer virus. A huge thank you to local professionals and volunteers who supported this: Mark Clark, Prestige Computer Services, Philip Dowding Electrical Repairs, Rachel Swatton Sewing Repairs, Neil Hancox and the Co-Op in Gloucester Rd for sponsoring the event. Lastly, a thank you to Emma Moore for coming up with the idea and making it happen! Watch this space for another Repair Cafe in the spring!
