Celebrating 100 Years of Waldorf Education

Dear <<First Name>>,
Thank you for taking the time to read our weekly newsletter, we are honoured to be allowed into your inbox, week after week.

The generosity of spirit that flows through this community is incredibly moving. From the volunteer hours involved in hosting our Children's Winter Fair, to the time-honoured tradition of Advent Lunches, to the strong response of trying something new - namely contributing to the GivingTuesday campaign - this season of gifting from the heart is a truly inspiring experience to be part of. Witnessing our school community rally together behind these initiatives, well established and new, helps as a reminder of what a gift it is to here and how simple it can be to make a difference.

Thank you for all that you do to hold our school in the light, and thank you again for reading.

The second light of Advent
is the light of plants–
Plants that reach up to the sun
and in the breezes dance.

CHRISTMAS CONCERT - Our annual Christmas Concert is on Wednesday, December 11 at 7:00 pm at Highlands United Church 3255 Edgemont Boulevard, North Vancouver. The concert features student performers from our Grades 4 - 12 Music Programs. An email detailing dress code, rehearsals, and arrival times was sent to participating families today, Thursday, December 5.
SHEPHERDS' PLAY - Each year, on the last day of school before the winter break, the faculty and staff come together to perform The Shepherds’ Play, as a gift to the students and families in our community. Performing this humorous, yet reverent medieval nativity play is a tradition observed in many Waldorf schools worldwide. Mark your calendar for December 19 at 7:00 pm.
GIFTING - Please check with your individual Class Rep to discuss any plans for end-of-term gifting for your Class Teachers, High School Advisors, and Subject Teachers.
EARLY DISMISSALS - We have two early dismissals this month.
  • December 11, students at the Grade School will be let out at 1:15 pm to rest before the Christmas Concert.
  • End of Term early dismissal on December 19 will be at 12:20 pm at the Grade School and 1:00 pm at the High School. * Note that there will be no Aftercare in the ECC or After School Program.
END OF TERM - December 19 is the last day of school before we break for the holidays. Classes will resume on Monday, January 6. The offices will be closed for the week from December 23 - 27.

Community & Resource Development Manager, Mary Henley, shares her deep gratitude for everyone who got behind the GivingTuesday campaign. Click the above video to hear her message.

Your engagement helps our school to grown and to continue the ongoing dialogue about global philanthropy and what fundraising can look like. For anyone who felt like they missed out on the day, good news, we have decided to keep the campaign open until the end of the term!

The gift of the light we thankfully take,
But not shall it be alone for our sake,
The more we give light, the one to the other,
It shines and it spreads, growing still further;
Until every spark by friends set aflame,
Until every heart, the joy to proclaim;
In the depths of our souls,
A shining sun glows.

Many blessings
