It's the Solstice!

You did it! You made it through the fall and its dying light. Starting today, the sun begins to stick around longer every day. That means rest time is done and the scheming for 2023 has officially begun.

Sweet William are we excited to tell you about our new AGA project to help you out with that garden planning...

Introducing the AGA 2023 wall calendar!

We have created an interactive document (that's right, it's so much more than a calendar!) that will walk you through your whole urban agriculture year. Each month has its own QR code to bring you to a secret area of our website which outlines when to seed, when to plant, upcoming AGA events, tips, resources, and other fun information. For those who are in our Facebook group, this will be a more organized and reliable way to get AGA information. For those who aren’t on Facebook, this calendar can plug you into your AGA community without needing to engage with social media.

Because of the support from our Avondale small businesses, this useful resource will only cost $10, all of which will go toward providing more free events for our whole community. Fill out this form to reserve your calendar, and choose a pick-up date/location that works best for you.

Thanks so much to these local heroes for sponsoring the calendar and appreciating the value of community support!

Speaking of planning for 2023...

We had a great time at Frank & Mary’s at our winter sowing event. You guys really came through with the jugs so we were able to provide all the materials and seeds for many dozens of tiny greenhouses for native plants. There is still time to get those natives started! We have a winter sowing video that will walk you through it or you can pick up already seeded jugs by messaging here while supplies last. Let’s cover Avondale in natives!

Seeding Swap Planning Meeting

On January 5th at 6pm we will have a zoom meeting for core seedling swap growers. If you are interested in joining an organized effort to plan a more balanced offering at the AGA May 2023 Seedling Swap, join here for a zoom meeting to help coordinate. We’d love for you to join our team! You can, of course, still donate your extra seedlings to the AGA seedling swap next May whether you participate here or not.

Group Seed Order

Seed Savers Exchange LogoLastly, keep an eye out for our AGA group order from Seed Savers Exchange. AGA pays shipping and the consolidated order uses less shipping resources. You can porch pick up your seeds when they arrive or wait until the seed swap to pick them up.
