Announcing a VBP First!

Following the warm reception of the splendid Missa Cantata for the patronal Feast of Our Lady of Perpetual Help which we were honored to facilitate at OLPH Parish in June, we were delighted with a surprise invitation: a generous donor would cover the cost of the music if VBP could facilitate a Requiem Mass! We are thankful for this opportunity and are pleased to be returning to Glenview on Wednesday, November 6th

Special thanks to Rev. Nicholas Kostyk of Our Lady of Perpetual Help for offering the Mass, and to Rev. Ervin Caliente and Rev. Matt Jamesson for serving as deacon and subdeacon, allowing for the full ceremonial of a Solemn High Mass with absolution at the catafalque, an empty coffin which is present within the church during a traditional Requiem as at a funeral.

Additional special thanks to our own chaplain, Rev. Charles Fanelli, for hearing confessions before Mass, and to the Anderson family for serving as acolytes.

Giovanni Francesco Anerio’s Missa pro defunctis “Requiem” will be sung by eight singers directed by VBP’s long-time music director
and friend, Chad McCoy.

Saturday, December 14th:
Rorate Caeli Mass by Candlelight

Back by popular demand! On Saturday, December 14th at 6AM, VBP will offer our third annual Rorate Caeli Mass, an Advent tradition in which the transition from darkness to light during the liturgy symbolizes the light of Christ to come at Christmas.

This year’s Mass will take place at the beautiful and historic
St. Barbara's at 2859 S. Throop St
in the Bridgeport neighborhood of Chicago.

St. Barbara’s and St. Thérèse recently merged to become St. Teresa of Calcutta Parish, and when our Mass at St. Thérèse , originally scheduled for September, had to be postponed, the combined parish’s kind pastor, Rev. Francis Li, suggested St. Barbara’s as a better fit due to its large parking lot. Thanks again to the parish and pastor for their generosity and flexibility. Come one, come all!

Summer 2019 Recap
2019 was a successful summer for VBP! We celebrated the Ember Saturday after Pentecost at the impressive National Shrine of St. Maximilian Kolbe at Marytown in Libertyville.

Thank you to all 160 people who came and filled the church, to the Conventual Franciscans at Marytown, and especially to its gracious rector,
Rev. Benedict LaVolpe, OFM Conv.

Later in June, 146 parishioners and friends joined for a heavenly High Mass for
the patronal Feast Day of Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Glenview.

This was the first Traditional Latin Mass at the parish in fifty years!

Thank you to all who came out for this special occasion and made it such a memorable celebration! And thanks again for this opportunity
to OLPH’s associate, Rev. Nicholas Kostyk.
