At the Fédération des médecins résidents du Québec, 2019 is already well under way. A meeting of the Federation Delegates’ Assembly was held January 12, 2019, to discuss current and potential issues that will be guiding our action and the attainment of our 2019-2021 three-year plan.

Quebec Physicians’ Health Program
 

The Quebec Physicians’ Health Program (QPHP) 2017-2018 Annual Report is now available on the Program site. The QPHP posted a 20% rise in new clients among non-FM specialist physicians, and a 12% increase among family physicians. The number of new requests each year from medical residents lies between 100 and 120, holding relatively steady from year to year. Note that the FMRQ has a seat on both the QPHP and the QPHP Foundation boards. The FMRQ contributes $100,000 a year to this program.

UpToDate
 

As you know, the promotion we sent you the information about last summer ended on September 1. But medical residents wishing to renew or start their UpToDate membership can do so at rates that are still preferential. The fees for a new subscription are US$159 for one year and US$318 for two years. To subscribe, you must contact UpToDate directly via their website, and use the following codes: TDCLQ171 for a 1-year subscription, and TDCLQ172 for a 2-year subscription.

OMEGA – Training for medical students and residents focussing on setting up a medical clinic (FM)

Sainte-Anne-des-Monts Hospital will be having periods of no coverage over the next few months, when it will be needing doctors to fill in. The Canadian Conference on Medical Education (CCME) is being held April 13-16, 2019, in Niagara Falls, Ontario. The Conference—on the theme of  Disruption Driving Change: Would Sir William Osler Adapt?—will look at physician resource planning for the healthcare system of the future. The Fédération des médecins omnipraticiens du Québec (FMOQ) now gives you access to the electronic version of its monthly publication, Le Médecin du Québec.
 
Family medicine residents may access it without charge via Google Store or APP. The tablet version may be downloaded here. For residents in other specialties, you may access the current Internet version and previous issues at lemedecinduquebec.org.

ALDO-Quebec – Calendar for 2018
 

All medical residents have to take part in an ALDO-Quebec training session at any moments during their training to be eligible for their permit from the CMQ. Registration must be completed one month prior to the training session.
