Habitat House Dedication
You are invited to our Habitat House Dedication Ceremony Saturday, March 12, 11:00 a.m. at 871 Smith Street, Rochester. Witness the moving ceremony, meet the new owners who have worked side-by-side with us to build their new home, and tour the house. Thanks to all who helped build the Perinton faith community's eighth Habitat House. The United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR), the humanitarian relief arm of Global Ministries, is in communication with partners in the region and actively exploring the coordination of humanitarian response in Ukraine. Joyful Noise and Heavenly Choir -
Starting March 29th!
Children, ages 4 years old through 5 th grade, it’s time to sing again!
We will rehearse on Tuesday evenings from 6:30-7:15pm in room 206 on March 29, April 5, 12, and 26 and sing in worship at the 10:30am service on Sunday, May 1! The choir will be led by Ms. Nicole and Ms. Stacy (Stacy Young).
Please contact Nicole before March 29 so she will know how many kids to expect. Depending on the age range, we may stay in one group or split into two groups. Feel free to invite friends to come with you! Singing together is so much fun!
Please note that our masking and distancing protocols for singing will depend on what zone we are in with covidactnow.org. Right now, in the yellow/medium zone, we are keeping our masks on for singing, and our choirs are keeping 3 feet of distance between singers. When we reach the green/low zone, masks and distancing will not be required for singing.
Pre-Teen/Teen Choir Starting in April!
Youth in 6th – 12th grade are welcome to sing in a new choir that Nicole is starting! An e-mail
has been sent to the parents of everyone she has heard from so far. If you are interested and haven’t received an e-mail, please reach out to Nicole so she will know who would like to sing! Many of our young musicians are involved in school plays and All County ensembles this month. Once their schedules settle down a bit, we will get this new choir off the ground! It will be lots of fun making music together! Let Nicole know if you have any questions!
Advent House Seeks New Fundraising Director
Advent House is a non-profit two-bedroom home for the dying at 1010 Moseley Road that is co-sponsored by a dozen Fairport/Perinton churches, including FUMC. They are looking for a new Fundraising director to replace our own Vicki Deady who is retiring. They offer competitive pay and seek a motivated, creative individual for this twenty-hour per week position that will be responsible for organizing important events from conception through completion. It requires flexibility and the ability to advocate and support Advent House through a broad program of fundraising activities including the creation of new avenues of income. Qualifications include previous fundraising experience, strong project managing skills, deadline and detail-oriented, ability to work well in teams, and excellent communication skills.
Book Study for Lent
During Lent, Adult Forum will examine the last week of Jesus’ life based on the Gospel of Mark. Supplemental material will include short videos and study notes based on the book, The Last Week, by Marcus Borg and John Dominic Crossan. Adult Forum meets from 9-10 AM Sunday. Participation can be remote via Zoom or by coming to room 204 which will be set up as a Zoom site. If interested, please contact Tom Deever (585-203-4184 or tdeever@hotmail.com) for access to the Zoom meetings and to receive the study notes. Although not a requirement for participating, reading The Last Week will certainly provide additional insights to understanding Mark’s Gospel story.
Reopening Task Force Guidelines
The Reopening Task Force has approved two important documents. They both use COVID ACT NOW risk levels to discern certain activities that take place at church. Please take time to review both!
Currently we are in the "Medium" Risk Level.
