In a blink of an eye, your sweet little baby is going to be 8 years old. She will be playing soccer. She will be dancing around your home to the latest pop song on the radio. She will want to dye her hair turquoise. She will fill your heart with joy, as she tells you about the latest thing she learned at school.
They say that time goes by fast. That cliché is so true, especially once you have children. It seems like just yesterday, that my darling Maddy was born. Oh the memories are flooding over me as I write! The sweet, precious moments of holding my baby in my arms. It was so much easier the second time around. I knew that I would not have to endure weeks and months of sleep deprivation. I knew that no matter what, she would be a wonderful sleeping machine like her big brother by the time she was three or so months.
Once her breastfeeding was well established, we got started on instilling healthy sleep habits with my gentle Newborn approach. We swaddled her up tight and kissed her good night anytime she was sleeping in her bassinet. You can read more about Newborn Sleep on Day 5 of the giveaway HERE.

Around the three month mark, we moved Maddy into a sleep sack and it was pretty much seamless. She was sleeping 10-12 hours until she decided to roll over in her sleep. We had to say goodbye to the sleep sack for a few weeks. Why? You can read more here: Could Developmental Milestones Affect Your Baby's Sleep?

Back into the sleep sack she went, once she was a master rolling machine. Things were trucking along great until she was almost two. No issues with her sleep. She LOVED getting into her sleep sack every bedtime and naptime.
Then one fateful night when I went to check on her, I discovered this cute little naked bum in the air. She was sound asleep. And then I felt the crib. Yep. You know what I am talking about. Everything was soaked in pee. There she was, soundly sleeping in it, much to my dismay. I woke her up, washed her down and then got her back into the crib as fast as I could. She went back into sleep all on her own - no fuss, no muss.

This continued night after night after night. My darling Maddy was so excited that she had figured out how to undress herself, including her diaper. She didn't seem to mind being naked in crib and sleeping in pee, but we sure did!

At the neighbourhood park, I was telling this story to one of my clients and she suggested I put everything on backwards. "Duh? Why didn't I think of that? I am the Sleep Consultant," I replied with a smile. "How much do I owe you for that great piece of advice?"
Continue to wrap them up tight and kiss them good night in a sleep sack until they turn THREE and are moving into their big kid beds. Pam, did you just say THREE YEARS OLD?! Yep. I did. Why? Read more at: Is Your Baby Ready for a Big Kid Bed? and Should I Introduce a Blanket in the Crib?
