Sector News

Over 10,000 charities miss deadline to file with regulator
Are your accounts up to date? Charities have up to 10 months from their financial year end to file information with the Charity Commission. Almost half of all charities have a financial year end of 31 March, which means accounts should have been filed by 31 January. Failure to file on time is a criminal offence and charities risk enforcement action.

Social Value Act to be Reviewed
The Minister for Civil Society has announced that there will be another review of the Social Value Act. Although this legislation should provide many opportunities for communities, most public sector organisations don’t really understand it. Further details. Also see NCVO's response.
Consultation on changes to the Code of Fundraising Practice
The Fundraising Regulator has launched its consultation on changes to the Code of Fundraising Practice. It runs until the end of April 2017.  Make sure your views are heard. Links to the Code and online consultation can be found here

Introduction to Charity Accounting and Independent Examination
