The Alaska IDeA Network of Biomedical Research Excellence (AK INBRE) is supported by a grant from the National Institutes of Health. The primary objective of the Alaska INBRE Graduate Research Assistantship (GRA) program is to provide support for projects in the biomedical and behavioral sciences with mentorship from UAF, UAA, or UAS faculty involved in biomedical and behavioral research. Projects that align with the AK INBRE One Health theme will be given priority. Alaska INBRE can fund approximately 10 GRA awards for AY 2022-23. Only PhD candidates are eligible for two-year awards. Applications should clearly indicate if the applicant is requesting one or two years of support.

Agilent Training

by Jynene Black | Alaska INBRE Reporting & Outreach Coordinator
Hey Boys and Girls! Have you been naughty or nice this year? Santa delivered the ASET lab an ICP-MS onto the loading dock earlier this week ahead of his usual holiday rush. Apparently, Pat Tomco and his gang have been extra good this year! Even former INBRE-funded postdoc Zachary Redman had to help Santa and the elves unload his sleigh! Thanks, Zachary, for the help.

Enough of this Tomfoolery. Here's the important stuff...

On February 22-24, Agilent will be sending an application specialist to UAA to provide operational training and build up analytical methods for interested parties. If you, or any of your UA colleagues or students would like to participate, please contact Pat Tomco at, and he will add you to the list. In addition, there will be an opportunity to run samples.

Need help getting to this training? Alaska INBRE has professional development opportunities. Apply here.
