Nippers begins this Saturday, 27th November at 3pm! (Starfish Nippers starts next week, 4th December.) Here's everything you'll want to know, including:
- Vaccination requirements
- Where to be and when
- What to bring
- Wetsuit exchange
- Why you need Team App (and how to set it up)

In compliance with the Victoria CHO's directions, everyone on the beach over age 12 years and 2 months must be fully vaccinated or hold a valid exemption in order to participate in Nippers or attend the club.
If you haven't already done so, upload your family's vaccine or exemption certificates here.
Uploads are taking a few days to process, so your age group manager may still ask you to display your green digital certificates on your phone.
A few notes:
- If your child is just turning 12: Please schedule the first vaccination as soon as possible, so they can receive their second dose within the two-month window.
- Starfish Nippers: We are aware that some Starfish Nipper vaccinations are taking longer and are working with LSV, so stay tuned for more information from Kerrie.
- Parents: You are required to stay on the beach during Nippers, so you must also be fully vaccinated.

Nippers runs from 3:00 - 4:30, but you'll want to arrive early the first day to check in, find your age group and pick up anything you've ordered. Feel free to stay later to grab a sausage if the BBQ is on or enjoy a drink upstairs in the club.
- QR Codes: Check in with the Service Victoria app when you enter the beach.
- Nippers Sign-In/Age Group Flags: Coloured age group flags will be spaced out on the beach. Age group managers will be there so you can sign your children in at the start of the program and sign them out after. Kids can leave thongs, water bottles, backpacks, etc., near their flags. Take a moment to introduce yourself to your age group manager and junior coaches when you check your child in.
- Gear Shop: For the first few weeks, the window to the right of the club roller doors will be open for picking up wide-brimmed hats, rashies (if they arrive in time) and other items.

Don't forget:
- Parents must stay on the beach. Nippers is not a kiss-and-go program.
- Sunscreen applied before you arrive
- Water bottle
- High-vis rashie. We hope this year's order will arrive in time, but it's been delayed. If they come in, we will let you know via Team App (where you can also order and pay). Bring or borrow a back-up if you can, as we can't let kids in the water without high vis.
- Broad-brim hat. Lifesaving follows a no hat/no play rule.
- Shirt with shoulders covered for beach activities.
- Wetsuit. Looks like it will be 21 and sunny on Saturday, but the water temp is just pushing 18 degrees. On windy, cooler or cloudy days, a wetsuit is a good choice.
- Goggles
- Towel
- Warm clothes for after/the ride home.
- Cash for the wetsuit swap, kiosk and BBQ.
|
|
We'll have a rack set up at the front of the club for buying and selling outgrown wetsuits. These transactions are between the buyer and seller, so prepare and label your items appropriately at home.
Selling? Pin an envelope to the wettie with:
- Your name
- Your phone number
- Price
- Size info if it's not evident
Buying? Bring cash in small denominations. Choose a wettie and leave cash in the envelope for the seller. Or call the number on the envelope if you need to talk.
