Building Resilience: Giving Back to the Community
For over 25 years, the Council of Islamic Organizations of Greater Chicago (CIOGC) has dedicated itself to service to promote mutual understanding and the common good. Over the past two decades, CIOGC has nurtured relationships with various faith communities, and through CIOGC’s Zakat Committee, CIOGC has been able to establish food pantries, free health clinics, and youth programs across the Chicagoland area. With many partnerships CIOGC can provide numerous services, including emergency food assistance, crisis intervention, rental assistance for victims of domestic abuse, childcare, youth tutoring, mentoring, senior citizen support, and much more.
All of this has only been possible through your generous support. We encourage you to donate to CIOGC and commit to taking part in social events and programs. Here’s how you can participate-
- To address the issue of food disparity Zakat Chicago has allocated $175k to food dispensaries in Chicago. Support Zakat Committee, in local collection, local distribution to help community members.
-
- Take part in Congressional Townhall series to collaboratively address issues of social justice important to community members.
-
- We are committed to dialogue and action with our faith partners: Every year, the Council and our faith partners organize events to enhance our cooperation. We encourage your participation and support in these events!
-
- Get the Youth involved: as developing leaders we should encourage the participation of are youth in events and programs.
Let’s work together to build community resilience and help sustain it. Get involved in the many programs CIOGC offers or offer a simple donation so we can continue the work to help people throughout our community!
