"What is your vocation? To be a good person."
-Marcus Aurelius, Meditations, 11.5
Dear Academy Community,
I recently found online ( some important skills all kids should master, and I'd like to share several below. I am certain my parents must have had a list such as this. Please make a family challenge to accomplish as many of the 25 goals with your children as you can. Summer homework from Ms. Coombs:
1. to write a letter
2. to take a message
3. to get to know an older person
4. to play with a baby
5. to apologize in a sincere way
6. to read slowly
7. to hammer a nail
8. to shake hands
9. to introduce yourself
10. to make scrambled eggs
11. to read a recipe
12. to write a thank you note
13. to do laundry
14. to wash dishes
15. to make a budget
16. to check tire pressure
17. to care for a pet
18. to iron a shirt
19. to find a book in a library
20. to BE KIND!
21. to select an appropriate gift
22. to set the table
23. to give someone the benefit of the doubt
24. to take care of a garden
25. to fix something instead of replacing it

Food for thought!

His heritage to his children wasn't words or possessions, but an unspoken treasure, the treasure of his example as a man and a father. More than anything I have, I'm trying to pass that on to my children. -Will Rogers, Jr.
