How far you go in life depends on you being tender with the young, compassionate with the aged, sympathetic with the striving,
and tolerant of the weak and the strong.
Because someday in life you will
have been all of these.
-George Washington Carver
Dear School Community:

In a matter of days, we will gather with family and friends to enjoy a Thanksgiving meal and some time together.  As a community, we enjoyed our Thankful Gathering in celebration of our shared values, our friendships, our dreams for our school and our gratitude for the many blessings and people who have impacted this community over the years. Special mention to Whitley McGill, Chairperson, Jenna Menkes, Kitchen Manager, and The Birchards, Turkey Managers, for hosting an absolutely beautiful Thankful Gathering, and to all parents for their contributions.

Thanksgiving is one of those days that allow us to step outside of the busyness of living to gather with our loved ones and to count our blessings.  Please be fully present as you gather with your family and friends.  Consider a device-free dinner.  I assure you that the work will always be there. Life doesn't offer us  the same guarantee.   Establish a Thanksgiving tradition as you gather around your dinner table. Share a memory from past Thanksgivings or from your childhood. Remember that it is 'drop by drop,  a cup is filled.'

Please know that as a faculty we truly understand what an honor it is to be welcomed to share in the lives of your children and your families. We share in the daily joys, sorrows, frustrations, and triumphs of your children and we carry them in our hearts.

I leave you with this quote
from Eckhart: "If the only prayer you said in your whole life was THANK YOU, that would suffice."

From our hearts, thank you, thank you, thank you.

A lovely evening was shared by family and friends of the McKeon's, faculty, and families (current and former) of the Academy. Over fifty thousand dollars was raised to be added to Kelly's fund. Special mention to Steve and Judy McCool for all their time and work to organize the event and to the many families who covered the cost of various expenses.

Mr. Truyols, our music director, provided piano music throughout the evening. Mr. Kris Rodgers, one of our Board Trustees, provided an update on Kelly's fund. Jack McKeon and several of his friends came to school on Sunday to help clean up. The evening was one of celebrating the love, kindness, and grace that Kelly brought to work on a daily basis.

Thank you to all families who supported our annual food drive to support the needs of City Harvest. Special mention to Mr. Dujmovic for overseeing this service project.

In thanksgiving for our stellar faculty, we may all enjoy a dress out on Tuesday, November 26th.  Thank you, faculty, for going above and beyond to support our students and their families.
